Anyone here with a GMAT FE 635 or GMAT Classic 690?
If you got admitted, was this score an asset? And what you think was your distinguishable factor?

Hey,
harveyyyyyWhen it comes to business school admissions, GMAT scores are just one factor considered. Admissions decisions are typically based on a comprehensive evaluation of an applicant's profile, which includes undergraduate GPA, work experience, leadership qualities, essays, and letters of recommendation.
The average
GMAT score for Columbia MBA is around 730-740+ (classic). Usually, a score can be an asset if it meets or exceeds the average score of the business school's recently admitted class.
Business schools look for unique qualities in a candidate, such as work experience, leadership skills, community service, and compelling essays. A well-rounded application is important.
But again, there are always some special cases. For example, we had this candidate who got admitted to the CBS MBA with a GMAT score of 700.
What set her apart was her unique work experience in the non-profit sector, where she led impactful projects in underdeveloped countries. Her essays effectively communicated her passion for social entrepreneurship and how an MBA would help her scale her impact. Her recommenders provided strong endorsements of her leadership skills, and since she was doing things that had a bigger impact on society, the GMAT score was an asset, as it helped establish the fact that in addition to her work experience and a mindset to give back to the society, she's also excellent on academic criteria. But here, USP was definitely the unique experience she brought to the program, highlighting the importance of a well-rounded application.
