Thanks for creating that list, belfi.
I submitted R2 on 11/16, no interview yet.
Congrats and good luck to all of you who got invites.

Where do most of the R1 stayed? Statler is way to expensive... Are other hotels way far from the Sage hall?

I looked for tickets yesterday and called Johnson office to schedule my interview. Now that I have scheduled my interview, I am not getting that day tickets unless I am willing to pay $500+.

What about flying to Syracuse or Rochester then driving to Ithaca? Or flying to NYC and taking a bus to Ithaca?

I'm going to look at those options to try to save money on the flight.

My another problem is I don't have much time. I am in the middle of a project and can't take much time off.

My first time up, I stayed at the Best Western University Inn:

https://www.bestwesternnewyork.com/hotels/best-western-university-inn-ithaca/

Looks like rooms are about $80. It's a short drive to campus. I parked in the garage by the baseball field, from there, it's a quick walk to Sage.

When I booked a flight (Continental) last week, flying to Ithaca was cheaper (~$300) than flying into Syracuse (~$500). So this time I'm not renting a car and driving, I'll just take the Statler shuttle from the airport and back.

I agree Statler is pricey, but for a second trip I think it's worth it. I'm trying to show Cornell the full-on love -- two trips and Statler to boot. Hopefully they'll reciprocate.

There are several hotels in the 70 -120 range (Clariion, Ramada, Hampton Inn etc.) within a few miles - And most of them will have a complementary shuttle service...

Aakashganga - what day is your interview?

If anyone is visiting late next week - you might want to stay the weekend - for the Light in Winter festival!

https://visitithaca.com/z-return.cfm?con ... Winter.com

There's a link on the same page listing all Ithaca area hotels.

I've stayed at the Statler and the Best Western University Inn. The Best Western is not walking distance from Sage Hall and if you have a car, parking on campus can be a pain. The Best Western does have a complimentary shuttle that will drop you off at campus, but it often gets delayed. Just know this going in.

If you happen to get stuck in a snow shower or something, which is obviously quite often this time of the year, every single $ you spend at the Statler Hotel will be worth it. Because it's like 200 feet away from Sage Hall.

Hi,

I received my interview invite today. I live on the west coast and I was wondering whether I should ask for an alumni interview. How would adcom view it? Since I have not visited the campus before as well. The reason being I work with a non-profit and I am not in a gainful employment...so yes my financial resources are limited and thats why I don't want to go. Do you guys think I should tell adcom that or I should just manage my resources and go to Ithaca...show my love? What I want to know is how bad it will sound?

If you haven't visited yet, go to Ithaca. No question.

I agree. When I visited, the students heavily emphasized returning to campus for an interview. Every school will want you to visit, but Cornell seems to want it just a little more than the others.
