Well LeftOut received it, so I guess that's not it either. Ok, I must stop obsessing about this!

I wonder if the Financial Aid e-mail was sent out only to people with "complete application" status

Maybe they just think you're rich.

I decided I simply wasn't what they were looking for. Moreover, reading the profiles and blogs of some of the recent Park Fellows sort of shed some perspective on the kind of folks who usually got through. I'd be absolutely elated to get any $$$ in a regular scholarship, but if someone like aaudetat got waitlisted for it 2 years ago, I am certainly not Park Fellow material.

I like the sound of that!

Wowza, so that means R2 application volume was DOWN? Because R1 was up between 10-20% and if they're even, then have to have received less applications in R2.

IHateTheGMAT
From the BW Ask Johnson thread in response to their R2 application volume:

"We're tracking applications for all the rounds now and we're about even compared to last year."

the plot - X's interview debrief

the set - a coffee shop with a grand old man playing a grand old piano and singin some good ol' songs in the background

the protagonists - A - the alum, X- yours truely

the scene - A greets X with a smile and a wave and tht automatically put X at ease. They start off discussing X's current work, organization and A tells X a bit about A's organization and similar experiences. Then A wants to know more about X's resume, basically education .. and then ask's X about X's background. A get back to the resume and gets to know a bit more about X's work and then finally the zillion $$ question - WHY MBA? X gives the reasons, but A wants more.. X gives more but A gives alternatives and is not convinced. X negates the alternatives and sticks to X's stand. Finally A says lets get back to it later.

Then A wants to know more about certain experiences of X.They discuss it at length.A finds X unconventional and delves pretty deep into X's experience. A asks X to check up a couple of interesting ventures and suggests a good read.A then asks X what friends/peers think of X and wht weaknesses X would like to improve on in the MBA. Here X stumbled a bit when A asks for an example. Then A comes back to the then zillion and now gazillion $$ question WHY MBA? X reiterates, gives some more concrete reasons but A is just not ready to part with A's money!!! A wants to know about X's career goals and although no where does A expliciting ask WHY Cornell , X does keep mentioning it throughout.

Finally after 90 mins A and X decide to part ways. Surprisingly A is not interested in knowing more about X's leadership experience ( or did A get it all when X was talking about experiences), team work, other schools X is applying to and the other general questions.

A makes an unusual request and says A might want to meet up with X again later since X has given A enough food for though (these are not A's words). X is a bit perplexed ( is this another litmus test??!!!) but absolutely fine with meeting A again.

As X walks off the stage X is happy that X was not nervous, it was a good conversation and irrespective of the outcome this meeting has given X a huge boost of confidence. ( X has practically nil interview experience)

Now X is back to obsessing over the 5 recommendation status', will A want to meet X again and discuss further and the charred remains of WHY Mba.

****the curtain***

I think you handled yourself beautifully, sentiment. Congratulations - all that cross-questioning makes it sound like an unusually tough interview by Cornell standards.

I don't know why so many Johnson School alumni interviewers make things so complicated for applicants, they should really leave the job of screening out applicants to the admissions committee.

Yeah, and what in the world was going on here? :? Might want to meet you again later - huh?!

According to a post on BW by Johnson Admissions, 20% of the R1 applications are still pending review. I'd say you should give it at least another 2 weeks. It's only been a week since the deadline anyway!

Not till they are done with R1 according to Johnson adcom on BW. I think they said they are 80% done with R1 apps. So you can try to infer a timeline from that. First step though is that your app needs to go under review. I'm guessing that hasn't happened for any R2 applicants.

EDIT: Looks like Solaris was one step ahead of me. And he went one step further and infered the timeline for you. Guess he's trying to make me look bad. (kidding of course  )

So my interviewer just responded to my thank you e-mail yesterday, at like 11pm too (they're working that late?). She just said she enjoyed meeting me and I should feel free to ask her any questions. But my application status still says "Interview Scheduled." Not sure if I should read anything into it.

If there's one thing I've learned through this process it's that we shouldn't read into anything the admissions office does... it's sad but true.

Though, if they have time to respond to emails maybe they're done reading files and we'll all get our decisions today! (Must follow my own advice and not read into anything.... and stop checking my app status every 20 minutes)

wait is it supposed to be a good thing if the application status quickly turns to "application complete" or whatever, soon after you interview?

I think we decided in a chat session it was based on the interviewer you had and doesn't really mean anything.

Correct me if I'm wrong of course.
