it's said the admitted all tend to have finance or consulting background, which is not mine.

Oh dear, this does not bode well for me then. It would make sense as finance or consulting (along with Indian IT) people have great stats and are marketable post MBA.

Only comfort as R2 applicant, so I have some time until it's my turn. Are those with R2 interview invites mostly finance or consulting folks?

I really should do sth more constructive.

I've been reading the thread from 2008 (for the 2009 enrollment year) and last year, and it seems like in the last two years, vast majority of notifications went out the first call day. There was always one or two people that seemingly found out on notification date of an admit, but that day and the day before, activity was always sparse. I'm still holding out hope until 2 this afternoon but if prior year patterns hold, R1 admits are nearly all done with. Nonetheless, good luck to everyone still waiting.

but there were so few posts this year for admits on the first call day

Also if that is the case or not the case this is a terrible system of notificatoin causeing anxiety for everyone involved in the process. They should let everyone know one way or the other at once.

I counted between day 1 and day 2 (and there was only 2-3 really on the 2nd day), around 15 admits or so. 275 class seats with a yield of 61%, according to last year stats, means 450 admits. R1 admits will be on the low side since R2-R3 collectively will have 3-5 times more volume.

Just to throw an arbitrary number out there, let's say 100 admits for R1, 300-325 for R2-R3, and the remainder for R4. Most of the admits here were international (skewed due to heavy # of internationals here) and with Johnson's ratios, only 30 or so, going with the numbers I threw out there, will be expected to be international. If everything I laid out here holds relatively true, we have a very good sample of international admits, since what 10 or so of the admits were international?

So assuming they don't split calling of international/domestic admits, which appears to be the case, the vast majority of domestic admits simply aren't on these forums.

I would say
R1 150
R2 175
R3 100
R4 50

I agree with those numbers more I would say majority of admits in R1 and R2 not R3
