I have been admitted :)

Received a call from Ann on Thursday. It was very unexpected as I just got back from Ithaca a few days ago after my interview. I thought something was missing from application at first.

Congrats to all the admits!!! Look forward to seeing you at Destination Johnson.

Good luck to everyone. I was biting my nails till the very end with messages on this forum. Thank you all on this message board for your help, guidance. I wish you the very best. Cheers !!!

I think with Essay 3, anything goes - it is the one place in the application you can get to distinguish yourself on a more personal level. Everyone who applies to Cornell will have great professional achievements, so talking more about personal things is a great way to stand out. For e.g. one of the things i mentioned in essay 3 was about something i achieved when i was a kid that i thought was very unique about me... I wasnt even in high school at that time, and it had nothing to do with academics or professional achievements.

Make sure you put the extra effort into Essay 3, and try to stand out from the crowd...the adcom is not kidding when they say they want this to be a creative essay.

I approached this essay at a personal level - to tell my life story. I thought this was the best place in the application that allowed the applicant to do so. You can choose to highlight your achievements here as well, but I think it would be fun to bring out your interests and make yourself more personable to the reader. just another characteristic/dimension to the applicant. But definitely think about the other elements that you do want to highlight and where in the application you would be highlighting those. Good luck !!! :-D

Does Johnson provide feedback to dinged applicants? How much time do they take in case they provide a feedback?

I have been wait-listed too...I don't know how to feel about this result! Cornell still remains top on my list! Any analysis on how this wait-list system normally works at Cornell.

I'm in the same darn boat. I guess, what we need is an example; someone who got out of the waitlist somehow. Which is, pretty rare imho- I've digged the previous years' threads yet couldn't come up with anything- anyone stumbles upon one, please just let les miserables know!
