Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there are any admitted international students that have started the US visa application process.

I looked into it and apparently I need to 1.complete the enrollment form 2.submit a statement of finances in order to receive the I20 form...

Anyone know where I can get the statement of finances form or who I have to submit it to?

If not I'll email the adcom and post the result....

Thanks!

Hi All!

I applied through the Consortium and just received an interview invite for Johnson!!! I am traveling to campus next week!

Does anyone know if Johnson interviews are blind or will they have read through my application? My interview is with a member of the AdCom.

Thanks in advance!

Congrats... that is awesome. Hope I get an invite soon! Did the invite come via e-mail or the application site?

Email. It was actually sent to the email on my resume which is not my main email so I almost missed it.

Does no one know it the interviews are blind? I am assuming they arent since it is with an AdCom member....

But I want to know because it impacts how i prep for it. I.e. do i reference things I talked about in my app or not and should I be prepared to go into more depth about those things or not...

chambax, the statement of finances form is found in your admissions binder. You have lots of time to get the ball rolling, but if you'd like to get a head start before your admissions binder comes in the mail, I'd contact Lisa P - she can email you a copy of the form. Perhaps the more time consuming process is making sure you can show them enough cash. You'll need something to the tune of 150k in liquid assets, so I'd get started on that. The statement of finances form is a tiny two pager that will take you all of 3 minutes and 12 seconds to complete. No joke.

Interviews are semi-blind, meaning the person interviewing you likely won't be the person reviewing your file. That being said the interviewer will have a copy of your resume as well as notes from the person reviewing your application. Be prepared to address weaknesses in your application, but wait for them to bring them up. Good luck!

I submitted R3 on time but one of my recommendors was abroad and submitted today, does Cornell have a grace period with the recommendations?
Thanks

You should be fine. Good luck!

in the case of Cornell for instance, background checks this year were literally a week before classes started.

Ariel, Can you elaborate on the background process check with Cornell
which company do they use? Also do they call Recommendors only? I used the Recommendors from my previous company as i have only been at my current company for about 7 months and i haven't told them about my plans for Bschool. How would they verify about my current company if my last 3 months i have been a contractor for them( i originally started working as a permanent employee, but the company recently was bought out and my department is turning over the responsibilities to the "new" owners.) ? So i presume my old company will show my employment dates for four months and then the last couple of months i have been a contractor for them... so i wouldn't show up on the new companies records... How do i handle this? Can i give the backrgound company my managers or HR information and he can verify my employment?

Thanks

I appreciate the response

Cornell uses Kroll. They call both recommenders as well as HR personnel. They only verify data that you have provided in your application. If you've told Cornell about your contracting work, that will likely be verified as well. The way it works is, you're given a user and pw on the Kroll site, you log in and fill out a bunch of info (names of people along with phone numbers and email addresses), then they call those individuals specifically. Someone should be able to verify your status of a contractor at the new shop and that someone is a person you point them to. Naturally they want office phone numbers and company email addresses though.

thanks ariel - that is very helpful to know!

what exactly do they verify on your app? employment history, education, criminal record etc? sorry if i sound paranoid, just want to make sure i know what to expect. is it similar to the background checks most people undergo when joining a new company?

Thanks!

I am in for Jan...

Has anyone started receiving invites (might be early!)? Does anyone know when the school starts sending R3 invites?
