Hi Ariel:

Is the scholarship the only source of grant (i.e. free money)? In other words, if I don't receive any scholarship, I need to pay for 100% of tuition and board?

Thanks,

chostein, perhaps you could look at private scholarships. That's the route most people take.

Where can one look for private scholarships? Any suggestions for those resources would be greatly appreciated.

How many people have you met that have obtained private scholarships? And do you know how much of their tuition it has covered? From my searches, it seems very limited (both number of oppotunities as well as amount offered), but I'd love to know if it's more widespread in your class..

its quite weird, its already been 7 weeks that we submitted the application.. does anyone has any clue why Cornell is taking so much time to send out the interview invites?

Oh well, I sort of mentally prepared myself for this at the outset cos someone on the boards mentioned that Cornell is generally slow with their process. Consider this, I applied to all of my schools on the same exact day. Got my first interview invites over a month ago and have finished interviewing with 3 of my schools already. For my 4th school (Kellogg), I got a waiver so that's some response I guess.

IMHO, Cornell is getting bogged down because of the extra round that they have put in before the January round. That probably results in significant additional work since they have to "shape" their class 4 times instead of the regular 3 rounds at most other schools.

On the brighter side, this also means that there is less wait-time between interview and decision dates (in the event that we do get an interview invite to begin with). I will probably trade that for a longer time to an interview invite!

R3 applicant here. Recieved an interview invite on Feb 11th. I'm an AMBA applicant so it may be an expedited process for us.

It is not compulsory but is highly recommended. You get to know about housing, mix with students, get to know about the clubs, etc. Most of the internationals who are not in the US can not make it to DJ. Hey, but guess what, if you go there, you'll get a bag free ! ;)

Most of the top schools offer guaranteed loans to international schools without a cosigner, atleast for tuition. If you have cosigner, you can get loans for living expenses as well. Hope it helps.

thanks for the reply. actually what i wished to ask was external scholarships that cut the expenses. aware about the loans, yet it seems schools are curbing that line of funding. (CBS was one now it seems Tuck also removed the loan facility)

well.. if you did not get any scholarship from the school, you did not. Other than the scholarships that are given during the admissions, all schools have few fellowships, etc but they are usually give in the second year based on first year performance on few criterias. Yes, for now, you might have to look for outside scholarship such as Fullbright etc but it is difficult to get Fullbright for a course like MBA.

At the bottom of the important dates page, there is a list of dates for Park Fellow interviews.

Event Dates: Rounds Invited:
March 4 – 5, 2011 Rounds 2 & 3
April 7 – 8, 2011 Round 3

Have any RD3 applicants been invited to the March 4-5th session?

I got an email saying i am on the waitlist for scholarship. Is everyone who does not get a scholarship placed on the waitlist by default?
Also, what are the chances of getting off the waitlist and getting a scholarship? the deposit date is march 9 while the waitlist decisions wont be sent till april 18th?

Can anyone throw some light on this?

I had the same questions and spoke to admissions about it. I'm not sure if you get placed on scholarship waitlist by default, but I was a R1 applicant and was placed on scholarship waitlist, in addition to Park weekend "hold". It's a bit annoying that the deposit deadline is before the scholarship decision deadline (also they will not let you extend the deposit deadline), but I was told that we need to make our decision to attend (or at least submit deposit) based on a worst case scenario of no scholarship.
