For instance, my essay to haas last year, it was the first MBA school I ever applied to. I was surprised when I received their interview invite last year as the essay was not good enough. It was just there.

At the time of my interview, I knew a lot of things better and I was saying things I initially didn’t include in my essay.

My interviewer was so happy and he was literally clapping at during the interview and mentioned he would make a case for me.

When I was waitlisted subsequent to interview, I knew it’s my essay they went back to and nothing more.

so you think they revist your essay to decide whether youre waitlisted or rejected?

For instance, I talk more on recruiting for Technology IB during interview while I never mentioned that in my application.

Also, during physical SEED event this year, I raised that and the response I got is that there were lots of applicants from Africa 🤷🏿‍♂️

I mean at the end of the day your application should clearly communicate who you are + why MBA + what your goals are re employment.

If you’re saying one thing in the application and something wildly different in the interview it is impossible to determine whether you simply learned more between applying and interviewing, or if you suffer from shiny object syndrome.
