Maybe they took a few more people from R1 then usual. I mean that is the thing about Darden right? Small class size so there really are not that many spots available compared to other larger schools. I submitted mine the last day as well and haven't heard anything, but I still have high hopes... at least until like mid-Feb or something, then I would start worrying.

Sorry, I'm confused by this...how would them taking more people in R1 result in them getting invitations out faster (that's assuming all R1 decisions are made already, which I don't believe to be the case considering none have been released and they said some could be made after the deadline...). Maybe I'm just tired but I think it's probably got something to do with the fact that they need time during R1 to ramp up the interview process (train interviewers, etc.) and by R2 they've got that all figured out. Either way, congrats to all of those that have received invites already, that's awesome! Wish us R1ers luck over the next week!

ah my mistake. That was really in response to

Quote:
Where did you hear 50% of the invites have gone out already? That seems extraordinarly high considering they just started sending them out and plan to do so throughout February.

On one hand, I'm excited that invites are starting to be sent out.... on the other hand, I'm worried because I have not received any invites :(

Hope that all will hear good news soon :)

This makes me think all R1 decisions have been made, but instead of letting us know they will make us sweat it out for 8 more days
Making some analysis from last year's thread, ~80% of GClubers were invited. If that was the case, Darden is either cutting down on the people they are interviewing, or GClubers' quality compared with the rest of the pool is dropping.

i got an invite last year and was on WL till classes started... this year no invite. so i would guess that either (a) i completely faked the app up this time or (b) the quality and number went up considerably. quite frustrating as I suspect the cause for not even an invite is (a)!

I wish Darden had given me a few more weeks of peace before i turned into an inbox refreshing junkie.

Anyway, have any international students who applied from outside the U.S. heard anything?

When I signed up for my R2 interview, there were only 4 dates to interview, Jan 22, Feb 8, 9, and 15th. There were lots of open slots each day but I wonder if the majority of interviews for R2 will be during those days....

Was there any other notable info for R1 applicants in the video? I won't have good enough internet connectivity to actually watch it for myself. Thanks a ton...

just that they will continue to send interview invites until jan 28. that's all she said really for R1. personally, i feel the window of opportunity is very narrow considering the flurry of R2 invites being sent already.

Just joined gmat club, applied to Darden Round 2.

A little surprised to see round 2 applicants already getting interview invites. I just submitted my last application on Tuesday and was hoping to not have to worry about business school stuff for a month or so. Guess not.

Nice screen name, I'm assuming a Mighty Ducks reference?

One and only. And I had some volunteer youth hockey coaching to throw on the old application to boot. Fortunately it wasn't court-ordered as the result of a DUI.

hey guys, just to offer some hope... most people started getting their interview invites a month earlier than i did, for R1, BUT everyone in my city (manila) got their invites roundabout the same time. so there might be a location factor there as well. in fact, i only got to interview january 14, 2 weeks before d-date.

Good luck mbaquest, 24, ACNGuy, pochcc, fugo, and all other R1 applicants! Less than a week now! I'm assuming they start calling domestic applicants on Wednesday, any idea if adcom/students call international applicants? Should we keep our phones on overnight?

R2 applicants, best advice on this thread is to be patient and not get too skittish at this point. Many R1 applicants didn't receive their invites until 2 months after the deadline. The number of times you check your email each day is directly correlated to hours of sleep you will lose...do your best to stay cool.
