Sally25 already gave a description for Darden's future year scholars program. I agree with some of it and just want to add my three cents as an admitted FY scholar so people applying in the future may benefit: The FY program (and other deferred programs) doesn't hard require applicants to have a job lined up when they apply, but from my experience I can say most of the admitted students (or even most of the applicant pool, yeah we are over-achievers

) would have at least one job offer ready. Interview-wise, I believe the FY program only does adcom whereas the full time program does adcom or alum. The rest sound about right, and I'd recommend you attend admission events if you are seriously considering the program.

By definition future scholars is a graduating senior with no work experience except an internship. They likely did not even have a job lined up when applying. The Future Scholar program is all about your GPA/ v major, the leadership roles you have had while in college - where did you make a difference - not just what did you participate in, references and essays. I am sure you interview with an alum matters - they are looking for mature, articulate individuals that understand the Darden program and specifically applied to Darden because of that program. Everyone says attending events doesn't matter, but not sure how you really know the school that well if you haven't. I also suspect they look at who has attended webinars, etc.- but have no confirmation that is true.[/quote]
