I didn't answer it in my Duke application. I think it is primarily (if not only) for marketing/surveying purposes.
A quick question to admits - are we supposed to click on the link on the admission offer e-mail, "please click here to confirm....", or do we have until March 22 to do that as well? Thanks..niladri.
Anybody accepted with below notification? They must have seen something wrong with my English. I, also, self-initiated my interview long long ago...
Language Institute Your program begins on July 11, 2011 with the Language Institute in Business, Communication, and Culture. This program is designed for students who have not had significant prior work or study experience in a native English speaking environment. Your attendance at the Language Institute is required.
It's not based on your english skills - so don't think of it being like they read your essays and thought, "holy cow, this guy speaks terrible english". It's purely based on the two things mentioned (where you went to school or your work experience). From what I understand, it's really less about language and more about culture. Most students tend to like it anyway.

Highhopes, thanks for your perspective on this. I just noticed that I got a TOEFL score waiver based on receiving my undergraduate degree at an instituion where medium of instruction was English. Once I decide to join Duke MBA Class of 2013, I guess I'd better submit my TOEFL score and see if I receive a waiver from language institute.
