Okay, another week of waiting is about to begin. If multiple spots (by multiple, I mean 3-5 tops) were still to be filled, these should be offered by this week. After this week, I would think only one or two people, if any, would be so lucky to still get a call before August 1st. I seriously never thought that I would still be in limbo this close to the Fall Semester, but I guess I would rather still be on the WL than not have a chance at all.

So I just found out a girl (who was accepted into HSM) has decided to go to Wharton...so hopefully that means there is 1 more spot available (for a chick that wants to do HSM!)

Also...I spoke with my waitlist counselor last week and the admissions director (Liz Riley) was on vacation until Monday 7/11....meaning she just got back from her trip yesterday.....and maybe there will be some movement this week....!

Unfortunately, today I officially withdrew my place in the class of 2013. I still have unfinished projects to do (I'm in peace corps), and wasn't going to be able to finish them on time. I requested a deferral but was not granted one. I will be reapplying this fall.

Best of luck to those of you still on the wait list. Hopefully someone gets my spot.

Well, my WL counselor didn't say whether or not they made any calls last week, but according to him the fact that we are still on the Waitlist is a good sign because apparently they have rejected a lot of people over the past few weeks (his words).

Then again he also said to never trust what any forum says because people make stuff up!

I know that some programs are starting soon (MMS and HSM) so admissions is getting increasingly busy. But he also shed some light on why sometimes calls are made so late.

So he's the director of the MMS program and was like "Gosh I hope everyone shows up." And I asked for clarification, and he goes "basically on Day 1, a ton of people don't show up because of Visa Issues or they just decide not to come so then we start making calls."

So hate to say it...if any of us get calls it could be 8/1!

Since orientation starts on August 1 (Monday), would the latest day that they'd make calls be July 29 (Friday)? They wouldn't call anyone on August 1 since orientation is mandatory right? I wonder what happens if people don't show up to orientation....whether they make a few more calls...or if they overadmit the class by a couple of people because they're used to a few people not showing up on the first day of orientation.

One guy got off of the WL on the first day of orientation (8/1) last year. He immediately packed his bags and went to Durham in time for the second day. At least that's what some of my contacts at Duke have told me.

Congrats, socem! Like smoodigger, I have done quite a bit since being put on the WL in May, but I don't think I can top your huge milestone.

AdCom is supposed to make calls this week. It doesn't look like they have made any this week so far. Since Thursday has historically been their most active day of the week as far as notifying people of acceptances/rejections, I have a feeling that a few people will be getting a call from a 919 area code tomorrow. That said, good luck to all of us! If anybody gets off the waitlist tomorrow, I hope it comes from the below list.

Don't give up hope until after Orientation. I'm not sure if it's the same guy, but I know a guys who was driving over to Georgetown, got the call, and just kept on driving to Durham.

Also, a girl drop half way through Orientation. She didn't even go to another b-school - just decided it wasn't for her. I'm not sure if AdCom made any calls for that slot.

IMO, you can probably miss Orientation, as long as you don't miss ILE.

I heard that same story when I visited! I wonder what happens in terms of Financial Aid. I assume he somehow was able to get his financial aid transferred pretty easily from Georgetown to Duke.
