Congrats everyone who got in!! I'm so excited for you guys! I submitted R1 and I hope to get an interview soon! Do you know when do they release interview invites? R1 interviews are held on Dec. 18th-to-20th. I loooove Duke!!
Congrats to the EA admits! Totally fabulous, and I am pumped for you...but what are you going to spend all your time on over the next 8 months???
Oh, to answer a question above: R2 is FINE. We admit most of our class in that round, but it is also when we get the most apps. Might you have a better chance to stand out in R1? Probably. But it's not worth sumbitting a ho-hum app.
We are currently processing your application and have noted that we are missing the following materials:
- The official TOEFL score from ETS that matches the score self-reported on your application
I have been checking my e-mail everyday since I turned in my application package, but this kind of e-mail is not what I've been waiting for.
We must receive your materials no later than Tuesday November 24th by 12:00 p.m. noon EDT in order for your application to be considered in Round 1, otherwise your application will be moved to the next application round.
Considering that I placed my order on November 9, what would you recommend me to do now?
Sending a scanned score report in PDF format and asking them to wait for more days before moving over my app... would be helpful??

Hi,
what email address did it come it from? Unfortunately, TOEFL scores may take up to 21 days to be delivered, hence you may be shifted to R2. I took my TOEFL test on Oct.10th and barely made it! Let me know how it goes!
Early action admit here...does anybody know when the background process for Duke starts/ends? Asked another way, I want to know how soon I can quit my job and do all those things I've been putting on the backburner for the past several years.
Yep, you'd better wait a long while, as long as you don't have problems like getting a visa/green card/relocating with family etc. Remember that background checks are most of the time run the very same summer when your program begins!!

I don't quite understand this. What does background check have to do with quitting your job? I, too, was planning on taking some time off.

The offer isnt final until you pass the background check. So technically if you quit your job and for some reason fail the check then you are out of luck.

Thanks for the reply, so basically if you didn't provide false information on your application, you are good to go?

If you quit like 2-3 months before the start of the program, you will be fine! Just do not quit know if you indicated you will work until July 31st 2010! :D
