Well, I received the same email. Does it mean the interview invitation will be sent out by Jan? I don't think the R1 applicants can schedual an interview by ourselves, can we?

I think maybe we're all freaking out a bit too much over this.

They've stated that all interview invites will be given out 12/8. It's not 12/8...

This is probably just an email they sent to everyone with "application complete". Those w/o "application complete" will get a separate email stating "we're missing XXXXX". Same thing that every other school seems to do...

Nothing to see here...

Well I did an open interview, so I'm fine with "complete" as long as it means "accepted" and of course the aforementioned gold bars.

For those of you EA who were accepted and got the gold bars, did you check the box in the app that said you wanted gold bars? I forgot to do that. Should I call adcom or send an email? :lol:

lol, got the email too. Since I have already interviewed I am fine with it and I guess its good to know that my application is complete (not that I was expecting anything else but..).

got to say it seemed like a rather strange email to send.. if i get in of course my opinion changes to- "the email was a great idea and the admissions office should be applauded for being so proactive in relieving the stress of applicants." :roll: :lol:

Eteusch1, you can use the NetJets pass that came in my admissions packet to just fly in to Durham and tell the adcom in person.

Also, sorry mjjking, but the gold bars were only for EA admits. I've heard that R1 admits might get silver bars though!

And to everyone freaking out about the complete email, don't. They're just verifying they have everything for you (you could have gotten one saying they were missing something you might get bumped to the next round). We EAers got it too. And from what happened last round, interview invites went out on the actual last day they said they would send them, so in this case, I would guess they'll come on the 8th. Good luck!

I heard from that Duke will interview around 75% of the applicants...
so interview invite from duke may not mean anything big.. am i not right?

Is there different rate in difference region?
for example, in US, the interview rate is above 75%, but in other internationla region like China/India, the figure is super below 75%

Am I right?

Who did you hear that from?

Well in my opinion that would imply that interview has a lot of weight. That's why they want to interview 75% applicants before making final decisions. If interview were not a big deal then they would have easily filtered out a lot of candidates without interview itself.

The data is from businessweek.

Interview invitation is 75% and offer 30%
Thus, basically, one out of two interviewees will be admitted.

I think he means that one invited for interview doesn't mean you have strong profile and essays becuase many people will be invited. Am I right?

My question is: in other region rather than US, the data is still 75%? it is too high.
