I got in!!! All I can say is that it has been quite a journey! I applied to Fuqua EA last year, and got rejected (not even waitlisted). This year I tried again, and really focused on my reapplication essay. I did not take the GMAT again like many friends recommended, because I felt that one score didnt define my whole application.

Here are my stats, which I didnt include this year.

GMAT: 670 (Verbal 36, 78%, Quant 45, 74%)
3.5 GPA from Top 20 undergrad
International work experience

Good luck to all, and if you didnt get in this year, but really like Fuqua, you should always think about reapplying.

Hi Diesel,

I got dinged from Duke EA. Did they tell you the reason or areas of improvement last year when you applied? I am thinking that my low GMAT score of 690 could be a problem (since I'm from an oversubscribed pool). Is it possible to speak with you?

Thanks for your help.

All invites will come out on 12/16. Duke releases invites and decisions at once on the dates they have specified.

For Duke, I believe you have 1.5 line spacing, min 11 font, not more than 2 pages long. I don't think there is a recommended word count but it comes out to be 900-1000 words.

This was discussed by a few other posters prior to the R1 deadline, and the consensus was that if you could keep your essays to around 700-800 words each, that would be optimal. That said, if you feel that you need more words to express yourself, you should by all means do it.

I, for one, used up every inch of the two pages that they allotted for each essay. Each of my essays was around 1,100-1,200 words long. In fact, I even struggled to keep my essays shorter than two pages because I just had so much to share. I probably read each of my essays over 50 times (no exaggeration!), and had at least four other friends/family read through them as well. Nobody thought that the essays were too long or that parts of the essays were redundant, so I submitted the longest application essays ever.

If you get a scholarship, it will be in the admit packet.

Might be a duh moment..but thought it would be better to clarify....How will your background, values and non work activities enhance the experience of others MBA students and add value to Fuqua’s diverse culture?

'background' here would refer to work experience and education?

Yep me too...I think this question primarily wanted you to focus on non-work activities...and how those activities can contribute to ur Fuqua classmates...

This question is really to have you highlight your uniqueness. So you do XYZ and work and I am sure they have a decent number of XYZ. What do you do based on your upbringing, education, work, ec's , social activities that set you apart and make you a valuable member of the incoming class. That was my take on the question. Good luck!
