Hi - I interviewed for R1 and am playing the waiting game. Does the decision get released on the same day for all R1 applicants (Feb 1 i think) or would they announce it on a rolling basis as and when they make a decision?

The decisions should come out on Wednesday, February 1st, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern time. Good luck!

I JUST saw that a scanned copy of official transcripts are required for the application. I didn't notice that before and assumed it was the same as every other school I'm applying to and would be official upon acceptance. I'm kicking myself now because there is no way I will receive the official transcript before the Jan 4 deadline.

I'm really at a loss of what to do here - should I just go ahead and submit with my unofficial and try to provide after the deadline? Or will that put me in a worse position than waiting for the Round 3 deadline?

School opens on the 3rd. I would suggest that you call the AdCom to see if you can upload the unofficial one and send in the official version within the week. Sometimes AdCom will be lenient, since they don't review all the applications at once. I know most AdCom gives some leeway for late recommdation letters, since that is out of your control. They may allow you an exception for this as well.

I applied in Round 1 (not EA) and my Interview Status is "Not Invited". I called up the Admissions Office and I was told that I could be invited to interview in future rounds and that this does not indicate a Ding. Anyone else in the same situation? Can someone shed light on what this exactly means? Is there a chance for me still?

They interview every applicant whom they accept, so this unfortunately means that there is no way that they will be accepting you in February. However, you may still be deferred to R2 as a waitlister. What this means is that when they send out the interview invitations on February 8th, you may receive an invite from them. After interviewing, they may then accept you when they release the decisions on March 20th.

As far as I know, for those who didnt receive an invitation on Dec 16, it's either 'not invited' or 'waitlisted.' So anyone who is on a 'not invited' status is deferred, but not waitlisted. Is this correct, threestripes?
And the only difference between 'deferred' and 'waitlisted' is that the decision will be made in the next round or the decision will be delayed until there's someone who is accepted but not matriculating?

I think the Dec 16 deadline had three outcomes: Invited, Waitlisted or Not Invited.

Candidates who got Invited have been directed to interview before Jan 20 to recieve a final decision by Feb 1.

Candidates who got Waitlisted are the ones who opted to interview during the on campus open interview season and then applied in R1 (my view). They don't have to interview but will receive the final decision along with the Invited R1 applicants on Feb 1.

Candidates who are Not Invited can receive an invitation to interview anytime during this round or the following rounds. If they get invited to interview by Jan 20, then they will most likely receive a decision by Feb 1 (R1 final decision deadline). If they are invited to interview after Jan 20, they will receive a final decision by the R2 deadline and so on.

This is my interpretation of adcom's strategy. Makes logical sense..

Hey,

Don't sweat about it. I have applied to R1 with unofficial transcripts and even not full ones. After the application deadline submission I got contacted by the adcom which told me that I need to provide them some additional transcripts and they gave me about two weeks to do so.

Don't worry about not be able to send the official ones in time.

Just wanted to post a short debrief from my interview today.

I was interviewed off-campus by an alumni. The interview was in his office and had very casual setting, just like a discussion.

The interviewer was very nice and calm and the interview went very smoothly without any hard or tricky questions.

The interview started with him asking me to tell him a bit about myself. I used that opportunity to add why MBA, why now, why duke.

He didn't explicitly asked those questions afterwards. While we were talking he asked those questions:
* please describe your short and long term goals
* Do you think that your lack of the avg work experience is a problem?
* What made you to choose what schools you want to apply to?
* What other schools have you applied to?
* What do you think will be the biggest challenge in the MBA studies?
* What do you consider your best quality and what is you biggest weakness?

Everything was asked in a very laid back and cool matter, and I haven't felt like he was trying to trip me in any way.

After the interview ended he gave me some time for questions. the total time of the interview was around 1 hour.

Hope it helps to someone!

You are correct that there is a third status, but it's not 'Waitlisted'. I applied in EA and had a self-initiated interview long before they sent out the interview invites. My status before the decisions were released was 'Complete'.

I am not certain as to whether some 'Not Invited' folks receive invites from AdCom within the same round, but I personally have not heard of anybody being sent an interview invite between the invite release date and the decision release date.

For those of you who were accepted in the Early Admission round, did you receive any information as to what date orientation/classes/etc. begin? Specifically, what's the latest date you can arrive on campus? I know typically it's around August 1st, but I wasn't sure if they'd sent out that information to the Admits yet.

thanks and good luck to all my fellow R1 applicants!

I'm a Chinese admit in EA and required to attend Language Institute starting from July 9. If no need to attend LI, I guess Aug 1st is the first date when your apperance is mandatory. You may also take one or two weeks into consideration for relocating.

Thanks for the clarification. The status Complete sounds more appropriate!

It doesn't seem plausible that Not Invited applicants receive an invitation to interview between the interview release date and the decision date but the email from AdCom read that people not invited can receive an invitation at a later stage in this round or in future rounds. Hence my conclusion that applicants can expect to receive an interview call between the interview release date and the final decision date.

Hi!
I might have missed this in one of the earlier forum posts, but anyone know how to check your interview status? It is not on the Apply page.
Also, anyone who applied in R1 (not EA) heard back?

Grazie.
