Never... because I did a self-initiated one.
R2 interview invites should go out on Wednesday, February 8th.

Would you know how many US-based applicants do self-initiated interviews? Due to some personal matters I just never really considered it. But I hope it isn't anything like Tuck, which takes it against applicants who do not come to campus to interview.
This is definitely not like Tuck. They only have open interviews for like a month. I think it is a positive if you take the initiative to come during the open interview, but speaking with an adcom member they say they no its not feasible for everyone. That is why they have this hybrid approach.
Agreed. Although they would appreciate it if you could come visit, they wouldn't take it against you if you couldn't.
It was a Saturday when I had my interview on campus in October. At least 30 of us sat in on the student panel portion of the day, but I am sure that there were others who skipped it. I am estimating that close to 50 people were interviewed that day. Based on that, around 200 people probably interviewed on a Saturday during the open interview season.
I am thinking that, on the average, around 10 more interviewed each weekday (with Mondays and Fridays being the most popular days). Since there were 22 weekdays in this window, that would give us a total of 220 weekday interviewees.
And so, in total, I am guessing that around 420 applicants initiated their interviews. That is roughly 12% of the applicant pool. Since they accepted 26% of the applicants last year, then at least 14% of the applicants last year did not even initiate their interviews but still got accepted.
