I was just about to submit my app when I realized there was a 50 line limit to the resume! grrrrrrr

it's almost 2am where I live right now so I guess I'll have to submit the app later and spend tmr morning snipping down my resume.

Do you guys know if Sloan is serious about it? I mean, come on 50 lines for resume!? the headings etc itself are already 5-8 lines

Thankfully, I realized it couple of days back and I think Sloan is pretty strict about it. Play with your page margins a little bit and the content. I got it down to 50 in pretty quick time.

I've been trying to find transcripts to Sloan AdCom chats. I can't access pages with java at work, and they have always taken place during work hours.

I'm talking about the chats that are hosted from here - https://chatbuffer.askadmissions.net/clu ... ame=mitmba

If anyone knows, it would be greatly appreciated!

AFAIK, Sloan does not post transcripts of their own chats. I will PM you a transcript of the last chat that I attended.

So what's the consensus on this? Is it 50 lines in all, or 50 typed lines? Does this include white space too?
Can someone please clarify?
thanks

Ok my status is this:

1. Resume : not trimmed down yet
2. Cover letter not even started
3. Essay 1: done but not reviewed, over limit by 70 words
4. Essay 2: not even started
5. Essay 3: done but not reviewed

Why am I still dreaming of Round 1?
I don't expect an answer..this is my rant.
Thanks

I'd say you're far enough along to warrant some cramming over the next day or so. It's either that or take your chances in Round 2.

Btw, I'd like to thank everyone on this forum for keeping me motivated with this app submission. Seeing your posts every once in a while keep me somewhat focused on the task at hand. Also, I've got it down to the point where I see the gmatclub email, open it and click on the link, and delete the email notice and switch back before the forum page has finished loading.

you don't need official transcripts for application submission do you?
It's just uploaded versions right?

You're right, this is just the uploaded version. But the situation is little more complex than what it may seem.
I did my undergrad more than 11 years ago and lost the transcripts (several intercontinental moves make such things easy to happen :) ). I asked my school to send me a copy of the transcripts in pdf files (they wouldn't send them by mail...) but there is an error in the transcripts: they show that I actually did not get my degree and that I failed to the final exam!
This is quite unlikely because I do keep my degree in my files, but I think I'm on for a long administrative fight in order to have my transcripts corrected. Moreover, I don't remember the marks I received for this exam so I cannot self-report... Plus, I need to have them translated from French to English, it will take too much time and I think I will have to withdraw from round 1.

Anyway, this is also my mistake: I should have solved that issue well before, but I took the MBA decision just few months ago.

I had a total of 50 lines including any whitespaces as well. (I dont think there were many only 6-7). I would think that is what they are asking for, using the wordcount feature in word and just counting the lines.

Does any one know the consequence of submitting the recommendations a few dates past R1 deadline?

Is resume supposed to have the same font as the essays, or vice versa?

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions about how to write essay #1 - went beyond expected and defined? Is it supposed to be a really creative thing? I just have a bit difficulty to find the best topic for this essay (although I have a non-ideal backup idea).

Frankly, I have to say MIT's essays are already one of the best/easiest ones to write.... I found the other schools' are way more difficult.

Good luck to you all!

Just the cover letter left, everything else looks pretty good, but I've been stuck at this for such a long time. Need inspiration, sigh. Anyone else trying to squeeze this out?

Good luck to you all!

about the recos, call them and find out. Some schools have a leeway, like LBS gave mme a week extra for recos, but Tuck did not. So it's very specific to the school.

Essay 1 I just wrote about how things were being done in a very outdated and laborious way at work, and how I automated it, though I faced opposition because the bring up cost for my solution was higher.
My job honestly has very little scope for being creative. I thought sloan's essaysbwere easy but the fact that everything has to be from the past 3 years actually makes it very difficult.
Cheers
wg

Oh, no...

I've submitted but just realized the 50 line limit.
I'm counting 56 lines on the word count function.
Hoping they don't count the separator lines.
