Wow, I didn't apply to ucla but I'm annoyed by that....if they meet on 3/1 and make a commitment to Consortium staff, saying we're giving students A, B and C the fellowship, what purpose does it serve to not tell them for 4 weeks... Imho it's just mean!

What I still don't get it how UCLA would announce their fellowship decisions. UCLA was my #1, but I was accepted to Cornell (#2) and Yale (#4). So if UCLA wants to give me the fellowship, and notifications go out in mid-March, would the Consortium just not send the fellowship announcement until 3/30?
My guess is that maybe fellowship recipients are in for a happy surprise when they open the mailbox one day in mid march? Maybe they let everyone else know two weeks later.
VLM, I spoke to Rebecca Dockery at the Consortium and she told me all decisions are going in the mail March 15th, give or take a day. Either way, you should call UCLA and ask how this will work.
On another note, I sent an email today to an admissions person at a school and received an away message saying she is out of town today and tomorrow for consortium business. Woo hoo! The day is approaching and soon this will all be over for everyone!

Yes, the Consortium only releases decisions by postal mail. However, if you're accepted to a program prior to the CGSM meeting of schools, the bschool you're accepted to will probably let you know whether you received the fellowship by phone and prior to March 15th.
Last year, I had a friend who had multiple offers from CGSM schools lined up by March 15th. She was in constant communication with the adcoms.
Don't beat yourself up about it ! It seems like these things have a way of working out somehow...I sound like my mom but it's true...last years thread had so many great endings from people concerned about that very thing! Im hoping for greatness this year too!
