I received an interview invite from Cornell today too. I feel reallllly fortunate and am so thankful but I'll probably be withdrawing my app tomorrow. It's only right since I already got into a school above them on my list and an interview invite from another above them on my list. It'll make another spot for you guys and less time wasted on less interested candidates like me.
First, congrats to all the invites! Second, do the schools actually read the Consortium Mission Essay #2 and does that have any weight on anything for the schools? I know for being admitted to the Consortium it's important but I'm curious as to what, if any, weight it holds for the schools for admit decisions. I got the impression from one school that the adcom doesn't even look at it. Thoughts?

I've learned that all the schools definitely read Essay #2. But the good thing is that if you did not show commitment to the mission well, it will only affect your membership into the Consortium and not admission into the school. I never heard of a school not reading that essay. If they didn't then the Consortium shouldn't/wouldn't even send them that essay, and they do.
Congrats to everyone on all the invites! I actually got an invite today from Booth (a non-consortium school) but I'm pretty psyched. I will be headed to Chicago at the end of the month. Good luck to all of you in the next couple of weeks!!!

There was an accepted.com chat with consortium reps from various schools, and the NYU rep in particular said that whether or not the applicant has demonstrated support for the consortiums mission plays into their admissions decision. I'm too tired to find the transcript now, but I'll try to post it tomorrow.
That's super cool of you to think about others that way...but as I was reading your post I remembered last years consortium thread...a couple of people who got into more than one school received fellowships from their second or third school despite getting into their # 1. So basically their first school skipped over them. I'm not saying that that would happen to you but I would feel bad if I didn't mention that considering I just read it the other day...it's just that I've learned that a lot of the aspects of the process is random and who knows what will go on in that room in March when they all meet up. You also seem like a super qualified candidate...what if Cornell offered full tuition and a stipend, to lure you away? Ha ha just throwing out scenarios...anyway Good Luck!

Maybe NYU doesn't like me because I told them they had a misspelling on their status web site.
Lol... I would take that as "this person is cognizant of how we are perceived. this person really cares about NYU... ADMIT!"

I thought about not saying anything but whenever I checked the site I would notice it. It was very annoying. Not that it was misspelled, we all make mistakes so really no biggie, but that I couldn't stop looking. You know the cliche, like a bad train wreck couldn't look away...etc...or is it car wreck? either way same thing.
