Hi guys, getting ready to apply in 4 days (whew!) for R2. Quick question on the word limit - are you all strictly following the very clever hint of "on average 500 words" for the essays? I'm having hard time getting out of my Kellogg hangover and still have just under 600 words in all the essays. But I'm worried now ...

EA applicants ... are all your essays under 550 words (500 + 10%)?

Mine were all over 600, so those should be fine. I don't think extra words are bad if the story is moving along/gives a better sense of you/shows an understanding of the school. I remember listening to the video I've attached below, and around the 15/16 minute mark she gave some insight into what it was like reading boring essays. I told myself that if I was going to include extra words, they had to be more than white noise. They had to move me away from the pack.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quKIDjtR ... r_embedded.
Caveat: I did not follow all the advice in the video, but the part I mentioned made an impression about that its really like to read 12 applications/day

Really!!! Don't you know that 80-90% of people on this forum are Indians? I am also planning to apply in January round. But I am still thinking to apply for European schools only since they have a more diverse and mature student body there.

Really? Ask the applicants to update the nationality then.

Who's the threadmaster? I decided not to apply to Tuck. My $100K should go to some other school. Please remove my name from the roll call.

Your password must only contain alphanumeric characters and be at least 8 characters long.

Hi everyone...Congratulations to those who are admitted. ^_^
I have a quick question. Can someone please kindly help me.
I will go to Hanover for my interview near end of January. I understand that the weather will be really COLD. I'm from the opposite side of the world. Any suggestion about clothes or travelling method to campus. Note that I've already booked a hostel in Vermont.
Thank you very much.

I'm almost 100% attending. The only dependency now is financing. I'm trying to find sufficient funds without relying on international loans from Tuck, due to the current uncertainty around international loans without U.S. co-signer.

Good luck to all applicants, and congrats to all EA admits! Can't wait to see all of you in Hanover soon!

Hello Kevintay....I'd like to say Congratulations to you personally. You may not know me hahaha but I recognize you because you are from Singapore, neighbouring country.
I'm so happy for you that you are admitted. I understand that it's quite rare for someone from this region admitted to TUCK. Well, Good Luck on your funds and Congratulations***

Good luck with your visit and interview. As for clothes, you'll want to bring a suit for while your at Tuck. Once you're in the building you won't need anything warmer than that. At the end of January it should be cold. Just how cold is anyone's guess. I suspect the high could be in the 30s. You'll probably want to bring gloves, a scarf and a hat. For when you're exploring Hanover, you should be fine in any warm casual clothes.

Dartmouth Coach provides bus service between Boston's Logan airport and Hanover for $50 or $60 roundtrip. While the shuttle will drop you off across the street from Dartmouth, I'm not sure how you could get from your hostel to Tuck. Walking won't really be an option. You could rent a car instead of taking the shuttle. Some local hotels offer shuttle service into Hanover. If you call the admissions office they may be able to give you more specific advice. Again, good luck and enjoy Hanover.

Thank you sooooo muchh. I really appreciate. :-D
They are all great advice. I will check with the hostel whether they have the shuttle service.
And what's about the shoes? hahaha I'm a woman by the way.
I prefer boots walking on snow, but is it weird wearing them with suit while interview. I'm sorry for stupid question ^^. I look forward to visiting Tuck and Hanover. Can't wait.
Thank you again and Good Luck to you too!

5pm: I flew into Burlington, then took a Greyhound bus from the airport to White River Junction, Vt. It may be more convenient for you, as your hostel is located in Vermont. The transfer from airplane to bus was seemless and White River Junction was a 10 minute taxi ride from campus. The bus stop provides the telephone numbers of several local taxi services, which might provide a better means of conveyance to your hostel.

Regarding attire: if you're traveling from a tropical climate, you should definitely invest in proper outerwear. It was cold when I visited in November. A suit is a must for your interview. It doesn't have to include a skirt though. A suit consisting of a jacket with pants will suffice. If you prefer wearing boots, bring a smart bag to the interview in which you can fit a pair of heels to change into. Air toward the side of formality rather than comfort.

Good luck and enjoy your trip to Hanover.
