I'm curious. How many people on this board are Indian, including U.S. Citizen Indians? In addition, does the terrain and climate like Tuck's, cold and mountainous, attract more applicants from warm climates? Some argue that the cold scares them off, but I would argue the opposite.

My Submission Status says "submitted", but below that it says that my Application Status is "completed."

I suspect the former means the applicant has hit the submit button on his or her application and the latter means that all of the various components of the application (transcripts, GMAT score, application fee, two recommendations, etc.) have been received. I can actually see when each component of my application was received.

I hope that helps.

I missed a call from a 603 area code on 12/30/10. I did a double take before realizing I was more than a month away from decisions being released. The caller didn't leave a message and the number was unlisted, but I'm pretty sure it was just Dawna Clarke calling to wish me an early Happy New Year.

That is exactly how mine is laid out.

Mine too - transcripts also says not official in braces...

Hi guys, I just realized that I made 2 mistakes in an essay and now I am sweating bullets. The mistakes include an extra article at one place and the use of "participated" instead of "participate".
Am I toast? Should i email the adcom to tell them about it and ask them to send the correct version? or just go visit temple and pray they miss it?
I really want to be in Duke and dont want these silly mistakes to completely tarnish to my otherwise compelling essays. Completely at loss here.

Note to other, do not write essays the whole night and submit them without sleeping for 18 hrs :( :( :(

It's TUCK thread my friend. You either meant Tuck instead of Duke or are on wrong thread.
I think you still have not slept. :P

socalscool,
Ok. You are nervous! seriously!. Relax man. My honest opinion is it is not an essay writing competition. I dont think an extra article in 1800-2000 words would make the adcom throw those "compelling" essays out. Neither will they find your co-ordinates and drop a nuke with a stealth aircraft. If it is any consolation for you, I too did 3 mistakes. Personally if I were adcom member I would find it too silly someone asking me to change these mistakes by email. Yes, prayer is good, do it anyway ;) Sleep the weekend!

Folks, I'm just an applicant like the rest of you, but a word of advice...unless you need to read over your essays prior to an interview, should you have a non-blind interview (not the case at Tuck), once you hit the submit button don't ever return to your essays. Most people will second guess or find mistakes in what they've written. In my opinion, once you hit submit there really isn't much more you can do.

The long wait is torturous, don't make it worse on yourself. Like many of you, Tuck is easily my first choice and I'll be very, very disappointed if I don't get in, but I'm applying to other outstanding programs and I've got enough self-confidence to know that I can achieve my goals if I have to attend my second or third choice program.

Good luck to you all. Just four more weeks (maybe less) for Nov. round applicants.

I had a typo and was still accepted. Don't sweat it. Unless you sent Duke to Tuck...

If money is an issue, look outside of Hanover/Norwich. White River Junction, VT has a few (relatively) clean and update chain hotels that could work and they're only 5 minutes or so from campus. The problem then becomes how do you get from your hotel to campus. Public transit is limited up there, so you could be faced with a dilemma of (a) pay more money and stay very close to campus (i.e. the overpriced Hanover Inn or the further out, but fairly new Mariott (which has a shuttle) or (b) stay further away, but rent a car to get around.

I suggest you check out priceline.com for hotels in the area. Before booking a place, call them to see if they offer complimentary shuttle service to Dartmouth. The Dartmouth Coach provides comfortable bus service to and from Logan Airport in Boston, so it is possible to get to Hanover without a car.

I'd suggest staying somewhere comfortable/clean/new the night before your interview so you aren't traveling the whole day before interviewing. If you have reward points from a credit card, you might be able to get a free night in your hotel or a free rental car.

You can read more about how people have traveled to Tuck if you read earlier posts in this thread.

Good luck and have fun.

LOL. Maybe that explains why the Tuck board is so much more active than the board for many other top schools.

Good luck with your Duke app. Duke has a very nice program too.

ATL already covered it, but the Hampton Inn in White River Junction is money in the bank. Great hotel for good price. I rented a car as I wanted to explore more options. Dartmouth coach will you run you $60 round trip, but then you are stranded in Hanover. The Hanover Inn sometimes has specials. I've seen rates as low as $200/night on Expedia. $200 + $60 (coach) is about the same as $130 off site hotel + $100 car rental + $60 in gas. It's a really nice hotel and you would be totally relaxed for your interview. No stress. Good luck either way!

^^^This is good info, but unless the Hanover Inn has been rennovated in the last 8 or so years, I don't think it's all that nice. It is, however, supposedly the nicest hotel (and certainly one of the most historic) in the Upper Valley. The bar is a good place to have drinks with visiting family. The rooms, as I recall them (from long ago) were dated. The Dartmouth Coach will drop you immediately infront of the Hanover Inn, which is itself directly across the street from Dartmouth College.

Here's a random question, does anyone know if Tuckies can take Tuck professors to lunch for free (as part of your tuition) at the Hanover Inn?
