The thing is like 90% of the people interview. So, it's hard to get an admit rate from those who are interviewed. 40-60% might be possible for those who are invited to interview.

Lets calculate then:

total around 2000 applicants , interviewed 90% or 1800 people, you say from 40% to 60% are admittted so it is about 720 (40%) or 1080 (60%) if the yield rate is about 60% it means that 720*60%=432 attend Tuck, ut we all know that the class size is 250 people.
So your assumptions seems to be wrong.

I didn't say 40-60% of the 90%. I said maybe 40-60 of the people invited to interview. 90% are not invited to interview.

I did a sniff test. I figured that if their regular admit percentage was 20% and that they interview a butt load of people then their ratio of admits to interviews is probably only a few points higher than their overall admit percentage.

Let's see how far off it is from a more logical estimate.
https://www.businessweek.com/bschools/ra ... /tuck.html

2528 people applied. 20% of roughly 506 persons were admitted. I assumed that 85% of applicants interviewed (I'd say 10% just didn't self initiate and then weren't invited and another 5% were invited but weren't really all that interested in the school). .85*2528 = 2149 total interviewed. 506/2149 = 23.53%... Not too far from my 25% number but really 23.53% may be too generous.

Does anybody know if Tuck plans on holding firm to their 3/18 D-Day? Or do they typically call applicants in the days leading up to the decision date.

Can the Indian applicants invited to interview and/or accepted, share their profile. I think I will be applying next year and wanted to get a feel for whether I need to improve my GMAT score.

I am not Indian nor do I have a higher GMAT score than you, but I thikn a good gauge is that if you think you need to increase your score to better your profile and you haven't taken it 3 times then you should take it - ESPECIALLY if you're below the average. I would not use the sample size of this message board to determine whether or not I would need to retake the GMAT.

Having taken the GMAT twice, I am not sure if I want to go through the grind again, unless I am convinced otherwise. You have a valid point that the data set may not be representative, but I just want to use it as a pointer.

From what I have heard candidates are grouped on the basis of their nationality so the average of the "male Indian Engineer" group maybe way above the overall average. If I am within 20-30 points of my group I may not retake the exam; however if that differential is in excess of 40 points then I will definitely re-take the GMAT.

But if you go with that argument won't you be compared to those with similar profiles, which you stated yourself skews higher.

How much higher is the point: 20-30 points higher, I wouldn't bother about it.

Tuck has two types of interviews:

self-initiated: almost all domestic applicants with true interest in this school will conduct. So the acceptance rate of this is really low (I guess it's lower than 1/4) because everyone has an interview.

invited to interview: some domestic and most international applicants (33% !!) will have this one. So it's probably around 50%, just like every other schools where people are interviewed by invitation only. But we'll never know as long as Tuck doesn't give us the number: too many factors, such as domestic / international application ratio and admit ratio, numbers of each type of interview sent, and numbers of admits through each type of interview, etc. Of all those factors, we only know that 33% of matriculated students were international last year.
