Yes when I went. I don't know if they still interview.
Would you say this event improved your chances for admission in any way? Did it clear anything up about Yale that you didn't know before?
I've already attended a reception and tour, but looking for a deep dive into the minority experience. My hope is that this event offers a different perspective.
Ultimately, I was denied admission so from my point of view attending didn't help. Clear up anything? Gave me a chance to experience the culture firsthand. Other than that, the conference confirmed my opinions, which were positive.
With respect to minorities top business schools are not diverse. As with other diversity conferences, schools show you a side that is not really representative of reality. Attending on a "normal" day will give you a better picture of diversity. You will get a different perspective, but, again, nothing like reality. Most current students at the conference will tell you the same thing. I guess the purpose of the conferences is to attract more minorities so that one day the minority experience will become reality.
What surprised me was the number of people that changed their mind about SOM. I probably spoke with at least 80% of the people and about 80% of those thought SOM was not the right place for them.
On a positive note, I met some great people at the conference that I continue to speak with today.
