Congrats! Sounds like 4-5 inches of snow didn't keep Georgetown Admissions at home today.

Does Georgetown prefer on campus or off campus interviews? Is it a huge deal like it is for Tuck to actually visit campus?

It's always a plus for all schools. Schools like Darden and Tuck like it more b/c of characteristics of their programs.

Just got an interview invite too.

Does anyone know if it's blind or if they will have read up on your application and essays? Also, any R1 applicants with insight on how their interviews went? Thanks!

I asked about that in the online session held last Friday. I believe the interview is blind - so they won't have seen your application. My impression is that they may have a copy of your resume.

I did my interview on Tuesday, 01-25-2011, and the interview is blind. You need to bring a copy of your resume to give the inteviewer and he/she goes from there.

That's good information to have - thank you!

Was it basic? I'm sort of expecting: walk me through your resume, why MBA, why Georgetown, and maybe a more specific behavioral question. Do you think that's fair?

Indian applicant here...Got my invite this week. Mumbai is the only place in India where interviews are scheduled. Besides, I have no choice but to interview on Wednesday! This could mean that I may have to take off from my work for 2-3 days! Any others in the same situation? How r u guys managing it? Is it good to ask them for phone/skype interview? Does MSB offer such interviews?

I'm not sure - in a perfect world, you'd be able to make it to the interview. But your explanation seems legitimate to me. Maybe you could send them an email, explain the situation, and say that you're interested to know if they offer any alternatives for applicants in your situation. At the same time, try to emphasize that you're serious about wanting to attend the school, so if there aren't any other alternatives, you're definitely willing to make the trek to Mumbai.

I had my interview today and I think it went well (fingers crossed). My interviewer was very friendly and engaging. She definitely put me at ease without making things seem too casual. It helped that we had a number of things in common (more than I was expecting).

1. Tell me about yourself.
2. What are you ST/LT goals?
3. Why do you want to get your MBA?
4. Have you had a chance to visit campus (before today)?
5. What attracted you to Georgetown?
6. Tell me about your international experiences.

I guess I went through those question fairly quickly (too quickly?) because we had 15 minutes left for me to ask her questions - fortunately I had a number on hand.

My advice (not groundbreaking) is just to arrive a little early - mostly because it's darn cold outside and it takes my face at least 10 minutes to adjust to a normal color after walking around in this weather. There is a cafe in the Leavey Center (building directly north of the Hariri Building). It was nice to grab a coffee there ahead of time.

Does anyone have any idea of when we hear back with an up/down? Will they release all the decisions at once, or on a rolling basis after the interviews are complete? I'm not sure, but if I find out I'll be sure to share.

Applied R2 and invited to interview on Jan 27. Set up for off campus despite never touring the school. Look forward to hearing about everyone's progress... I am a long shot.

Hey all, just had my interview. Questions are very similar to what have already been listed:
1. Walk me through resume, ST/LT goals
2. Why MBA/Georgetown?
3. How do you work in a team?
4. How do you deal with people from multiple backgrounds in a team situation?
5. Personal interests?

That's pretty much it. Received a business card and followed up. Interviewer indicated that he/she hoped to see me on campus next year so I am taking that as a good sign! Good luck folks!!

=D

Edit: added more questions in the list.

Congrats! Are you under the impression that everyone who interviews in R2 will get a response by 3/15? I looked through last year's thread, and I was left with the impression that R2 interviewees heard on a specific day. And 3/15 is the decision notification date on the website.

Honestly, 3/15 sounds reasonable. But this waiting is driving me crazy - I'd love to hear that they'll just call us and let us know earlier.

I know that the interview % for Georgetown is rather high (+70% of applicants), but something to consider for us in R2 getting invites is that R1 folks are able to self-initiate interviews. That would skew the +70% interviewed statistic towards the determination that Georgetown invites a lot of people to interview when in reality it depends on what round you're applying in. Just something to chew on in our heads..
