I do not why i looked into my R2 submitted app again today, and noticed a BIG mistake - i filled the revenue of my current employer (from drop-down options) in millions instead of correct one in Billions. The magnitude of this mistake has still not sunk in

aah never should have looked at the application again

You shouldn't worry about this mistake, because if your company makes billions of dollars, it must be quite to very well-known. The first thing the adcom will notice is the big name of the company and that will paint a clear enough picture of their nature of business and revenue. If they notice the millions-billions mistake, you did the opposite of inflating numbers, so it's clearly not a malicious, deliberate misinformation. Filling out online application is a tedious job and I'm sure they run across careless mistakes all the time, even for HBS.

Like so many of us here every once in a while, you are being too paranoid.

I don't think adcom would know the name even though it is multi-billion dollar company like hundreds of other multi-billion dollar companies in my industry. adcom knows the name of only a few and outside my core industry people would not know the name of the company.

The only field in the app form that communicates the size of company was revenue (no #of employee field), and I made this stupid mistake on revenue. This was crucial in my case, because my prior experiences had been with smaller firms and the big size of the company plays into my narratives in essays.

I think I have to do something to get it corrected, but am really uncertain about what I can do. If I call them it has the potential of negatively impacting my app. Who does one get to talk with when they call the admissions office phone number - does the person who picks up the phone helpful in clarifying this aspect of application? If so, I should try it tomorrow morning

JK12 - I understand the feeling of realizing an application mistake, but like many folks have already responded, don't worry about it. It's not a make or break item and it will do more harm than good to call up ADCOM for this purpose. However, if you insist (which you obviously are despite advice from everyone to do the contrary), call tomorrow then. They have enough to worry about with your recommendations, GMAT, GPA, job experience, extracurriculars, essays, than to worry about "This is a $XX M company vs a $XX B company". Think about it. And just make a decision. Many people have given you advice.

imho, a small mistake on billions vs. millions in company revenues is NOT going to be the deciding the factor of whether you get in or not. But since you've convinced yourself otherwise, do whatever you feel you should do because if you get WL'd or dinged (I hope this doesn't happen!), you'd convince yourself that it was because of this small mistake that it happened. Best of luck!

From below, it sounds like 95% or so of invites went out on the first R2 day last year..wonder if that will be the case again this year.

Round 2 Interview Update
Date: February 12, 2010

As planned, today we are sending out roughly 800 interview invitations to round 2 applicants and some round 1 waitlisters. Invitations will arrive by email from HBS MBA Admissions and will be sent out before 5:00pm EST today. We will make sure every invited candidate is contacted so don't worry about missing our email.

More interview invitations will follow, up to decision notification on April 6. How many? I don't know for sure at this point - perhaps 50 or so. The majority of invitations will indeed be sent today. We continue to review - and re-review - applications and are also making some preliminary round 2 waitlist decisions. Candidates who do not receive interview invitations in round 2 will be considered for spots on the waitlist. I expect there will be approximately 100 round 2 candidates who will be invited to join the waitlist.

that's not going to be the case this year - Dee said so herself. And judging from how the interview invites went for R1, the bulk of the invites did not go out on the first day

IN ROUND ONE THIS YEAR, ABOUT 60-70+ PCT OF INVITES WENT OUT ON DAY ONE OF THE WINDOW, AND REMAINER DRIBBLED OUT, ALTHO THERE WERE SPURT DAYS EARLY IN THE WINDOW. AFTER FIRST WEEK, INVITES WERE RARE-ISH. NOT SURE WHAT PRACTICE WILL BE THIS TIME.

February 1, 2011

Hello Everyone:

It’s Eileen Chang from HBS. Since it is the beginning of the month, we wanted to provide you with an update on where we are right now. I know many of you have been patiently waiting for news.

Right now we are deep in evaluating our Round 2 applicants. The first wave of interview invitations will begin going out this Friday, February 4 and will continue until February 16.

Some of you on the waitlist were not interviewed in Round 1. If you are in this group, we are currently evaluating your application along with the Round 2 applicants. You should expect one of two outcomes this month: you will either be invited to interview sometime between February 4 and February 16 along with those from Round 2, or your application will be released on February 16 in order to enable you to pursue other options.

For those of you who were already interviewed in Round 1, you should not expect any activity this month. We will revisit your application again in March as we make decisions on the Round 2 candidates. Many of you should expect a decision on your application on March 29, the decision notification date for Round 2. I will have more information for you in my update on March 1.

We do not plan to make decisions any earlier than what I have outlined above. We understand that some of you may require a different timeline; if so, and you would like to remove yourself from our waitlist, please let Dana Scalisi know at [email protected].

Thank you for your patience, and please contact us if this is not clear.

Sincerely,

Eileen Chang

I plan on applying for round 3. Has anyone found any numbers on applicants for all rounds, i.e. how many applicants and admits on round 1, round 2 etc for other years? Good luck to those who submitted an app for round 2 and congrats to those admitted on R1.

Maybe this has been answered before, but is an interview absolutely required for admission to HBS? Thanks.

I applied 1/11 to HBS and am wondering if I should look lower. I'm a non-traditional applicant: AB in Political Theory from #20 liberal arts college (GPA: 3.6), law degree from #20 law school (with a low GPA: 2.9). Have only one semester of ugrad quant work: Calc I (A). 730 on the GMAT.
Want to lead a policy org (currently working in the nonprofit/gov't world).
Is it likely that my Law School GPA is going to sink me at top schools? Given the low grad school gpa, which is obviously more recent than my college grades, should I forget about schools in the top 10? I've noticed that invites have gone out for R2 interviews and I haven't heard anything which contributes to my wondering if I should shoot some R3 apps out.

R2 invites are yet to go out for HBS. And hold on until Mid-Feb to see if you are getting any luck anywhere and then you can chalk out a Plan B. That is IMO.
