looks like i got passed over. good luck all. i thought i was a pretty strong candidate, but i think my crappy recommendations screwed me. they sent them in without telling me, and from what i gather, spent less than 20 mins writing them.

Congratulations to everyone who got invites. Alas, I am not one of you. I really did think I had a solid shot, and my essays should have been better because they were the last ones I did, and being passed over makes me feel like Stanford is an even longer shot than before, and so on and so on.

I know I have things for which to be grateful. For now I need to refocus on the great schools for which I have invites. But I am not giving up until April 6.

Aenigma,
Been silently stalking your progress (in my defense we are applying to similar schools and you are on the boards I follow). I would be happy with one of the interview requests you received today. Good luck!

Thanks, mustafaj, and all the best to you too! There's still time for the other schools' invites to come out. Incidentally I should probably confess right now that I have been stalking a number of people like a CHAMP, so turn-about is fair play.

any one from India??

I'm kind of India, kind of not. I'm an American (totally gora, not PIO or anything) but the bulk of my work experience has been India.

I know i should stay positive since the invites will continue to come out, but its driving me nuts. I am beginning to think I should turn off push email notifications on my phone/computer. I suspect one of these times my heart is going to tear through my chest and walk out the door.

Congratulations to everyone who got an interview invite.

I am a R1 admit and wanted to say that I only got my invite 1 week after the "R1 deluge". Ironically, I was incessantly checking my email in anticipation of receiving an interview call from another school when I received my invite from HBS. So, for the people who did not get an interview invite today, although the situation may look bleak, do not lose hope. Concentrate on other applications/interviews coming your way and hope for the best.

I hope to see most, if not all, of you in Cambridge this fall.

Unfortunately, for those of us who did not receive any invite today, the odds of receiving one has gone down to almost 1%. It's still better than nothing, but not good enough for me. Unless something drastically changes in the next month or so where a lot of the R1 admits receive 200% raises in their jobs and decline HBS, I do not see the odds improving any more.

BUT, R1 was different:

"We expect to begin sending out interview invitations on October 16. This year we may not be trying to send as many out on one day as we did last year... maybe more like a not-scientifically-measured stream until December 15. We really (really, really, really) don't know how many will go out on any given day. If you call and ask, we will say exactly that."

Thanks for the encouragement, though! :-D

Hey, I was rooting for you but I hate to admit that your situation with Harvard makes me feel a bit better since your stats are way better than mine and you are also a much better writer. If HBS did not send YOU an invitation, then I really did not stand a chance. I know it's pretty warped thinking but it's honest. Of course I still hope you're one of the lucky 50 that will receive an invitation later on. Congratulations on all your other interview invitations and good luck with HBS & Stanford! :)

Baxter,

This is what they said but actually around 750 invites went out on Oct 16th. The R1 applicants were amazed to see around 750 spots getting picked up as soon as the interview scheduler went online. We R1 applicants had endless debate on why did they send out 750 invites on day 1 when they had advertised otherwise. So it wasn't different at all.

Oct. 15 follow-up "We continue to send out interview invitations to Round 1 applicants. As I said before, I don't know how many are still to go, but it is a significant number. "

People! I say linger no longer! .... Hope? I kind of like to side with Woody Allen when he said : I felt a lot better once I gave up hope. ;-)

Congrats to everyone who got an invite!
