My apologies if I am not allowing you to let go -- by all means go ahead.
On a serious note, the source is the online website itself. The system HBS uses shows already filled up slots as well. So a bunch of kind R1 applicants went in and counted the open / taken slots and to every ones dismay within 2-3 days 700+ slots were taken up. You can peruse this thread to see how everyone kept asking about "the updated count". I think Dee has mentioned it in her blog today that around 50 or so invites to go. So don't let me disseminate any more reason to hope than there needs to be. At the end of the day HBS is just one school.
