Heh. Happiest I've ever made a man. Good luck, buddy. I feel your relief. Let's all take it easy now, at least for a couple of weeks; it's out of our hands.

That last statement sure can be taken a number of ways my fellow Brooklynite...!

HA! Love it. Love. It. 'Twas inadvertent, I assure you.
But was perhaps also subliminal testament to quite how hermitous I have had to be for the last few months!

Soon after the deadline (though I highly doubt that) the HBS Adcom will begin extracting the applications from their systems and begin printing them. That like printing 8000+ applications! I hope they use double-side printing. Anyways, for those who are a 'little' late, it may be good to know that they wouldn't just start printing on dot 5:00 pm EST (They deserve that coffee break). So presumably sometime on the 20th they'll start their machines. So I suppose a few minutes are okay.

So a few things to confirm and some questions...

From what I've seen from looking back through this thread for R1 information:

1) our status on the ApplyYourself HBS app won't change until April 6, so there is no reason for me to check it. On that day, will the ApplyYourself site be where we go to check to see if we've been admitted?

2) interview invites will be sent via email?

Yes, when you log in on decision day, there will be a link on the Appyourself page that will open a new window with a PDF of your decision letter.

Quote:

from R1, yes they were sent via email. not all in one shot, although it appeared that most people got theirs at the same time, with some sent out a week or 2 later.

So if you don't receive an interview invite around the time that most others do, then you can assume your decision will be a ding come D-day?

I always thought anything more than 10% over the word limit count is bad?

i don't know for sure, since i don't claim any insider knowledge (just basing it from my observations as a R1 applicant). like i said, there were a number of people who received invites later on, so no i wouldn't say all hope is lost.

the only people who could definitively answer this, though, are HBS adcom, and it's unlikely you'll get a 100% yes or no answer to that question.

I also would not worry if you do not hear right away. I received my invite to interview 2 weeks before the final decision date, and was admitted. There are many, many reasons why your particular invite may not go out in the first wave. Among them include:

1) Geographic location
2) When your application was printed, and when it was signed off on for interview by Dee

HBS Confirms:

1. Recommendations submitted by 5 pm EST on 20.01.2010 will be accepted.
2. If anyone misses the R2 deadline, their application might still be accepted.

It's only 9 am EST on 1/21 right now. Are you sure you got the date & time right of their submission?
