I have almost 9 years of experience in engineering firm. I left my job just before completing 9 years (in June this year) to pursue MBA from one of the IIM's.
Am I at a disadvantage for IIM-B EPGP ?

Thanks for the reply, your guidance is much appreciated :)
I come from Oil & Gas EPCM field. My work was technical in nature but it also involved a lot of client and vendor coordination/ management. Also, I think I can write a lot of co-curricular stuff that involved leadership and mentoring.
Any feedback on improving my chances??

I don’t see it as a disadvantage as long as you articulate your story well. But remember most people manage jobs and GMAT prep together, so have good explanations of why you had to quit for MBA preparation.

JyotiA, it is mentioned as around 600. In a webinar, the adcom person for iimb told it can be +- 10%

No one mentions abt +-10% and we dont know Impacts of writing more , will that not be unfair to someone like me struggling to stop at 600 ?

I would suggest that you stick to the word limit. The limit is there for a reason.

Also if you are able to make an impactful essay with 500 words or even less, you can do that for sure. But don’t overshoot the 600 mark.

mohitbhargavagmat, I’m simply relaying info I got from the iimb webinar(conducted on Monday, 16 August 2021 - 4:00 pm IST) where the same question was raised and the adcom member replied as such. I’ve chosen to stick within 600 mark limit. Please take the decision as per your discretion.

Ofcourse being a new applicant myself, even though the adcom person has told that a 10% leeway is acceptable, I’m not aware of it’s impact on the decision that the adcom is going to make.

An attendee had raised the question in the webinar, that in the description section of the SOP/uploads, it is mentioned that the essay should be ’around 600 words’ while the text near the upload link says MAX 600 word. The answer from the adcom person was a response to this.

Would +-10 make such a sizeable difference in your application that such an elaborate discussion is required for it?

As a thumb rule, stick with the formal instructions.

If your answer to my first question is Yes, I suggest you write to the adcom and get a confirmation by mail.

I don’t think we have time now for clarification but I would stick to rules mentioned clearly as 600 max.

Have u heard anything about relaxation on limit for iimc ?

Another question, do we write anything else on word document apart from SOP on word document we need to upload ?
