| FROM Insead Admissions Blog: And we’re halfway there! |
|
Hi everyone! Glad to see you back on this website reading our lovely blog entries. First, I would like to say that hosting an event for 200 people is very difficult when we are given a $0 budget. How would you like it if I invited you to my wedding and asked you to pay for your own meal? That’s what I feel like I’m doing as social rep—so exhausting and stressful when you’re broke. I guess that’s why I’m here doing my MBA to make sure I get a good job afterward to make sure I will not be stressed out from being broke. ![]() Anyway, there is this day called DASH where all the students dress up in awesome costumes and run from their apartments to school and attend class with the teachers looking completely bewildered and yet have to teach anyway. It’s definitely a bonding time for all the students in crazy outfits, and makes the school spirit come alive. ![]() Second, I am having an amazing time making friends from all over the world and learning about capital cities, their culture, and their food. This week was LATAM (Latin American) Week, where they served pão de queijos (cheese breads) with brigadeiro (Brazilian chocolate fudge), Brazilian BBQ and caipirinhas, and showcased Havaianas (a Brazilian flip-flop brand) as a prize to be won after hashtagging photos on Instagram. It was a week filled with new learning experiences not only in class but also culturally. ![]() Third, in class, we played a game called BINGO where each group crosses off a phrase the teacher usually says. You must get a horizontal BINGO to win. The prize is half of the initial price of paying to play BINGO while the other half gets donated to our Champagne Fund for the End-of-the-Period Party! Hosted by none other than your beloved social reps. ![]() As you know, INSEAD is only a one-year program (actually 10 months) and it is crucial to use each day with thought and care because unlike other MBAs you don’t have much time to do everything. You have to be selective. Some people are extremely studious and hard-working; they know they want to leave their previous jobs to get into consulting, for example, so they will attend social events once a month, maybe. Other students are paid for by their current employers to attend MBA and thus attend social events as much as possible. In addition, there are weekend trips to any Southeast Asian city you can think of, and there will always be someone somewhere outside of Singapore every weekend. To sum it up, there are 3 S’s here at INSEAD: SLEEP, STUDY, SOCIALIZE, but you can only choose two because there’s just not enough time for all three! Finals are coming up in two weeks. Better start prioritizing! |
