Hi Bigoyal and ThinkISB,

Just took GMAT yesterday and recieved a score of 740 (Q50,V40).I've done B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Guwahati. But my weak point is that I've only 2yrs of work ex. Would a good score and IIT tag be enough to componsate a low work ex for admission into ISB? my brief profile is-

Graduation - Mechanical Engg. fom IIT Guwahati (2008 batch) - 7.48 CPI

Work ex - will be 2 years in August 2010.Working in a government maharatna PSU - NTPC Ltd. since last 2 yrs as a power engineer.Responsible for correct working of the power plant and for handling emergency situations and preventing the plant from tripping.

E.Cs - 2nd runner up at a Professional circle convention (a technical competition) at NTPC
One of the 5 core members of Publicity team of annual cultural fest at IIT Guwahati
Completed a mountaineering course with A grade

Interests - A very keen interest in philosophy, spirituality, thinking and deciding about the ethical ways of life and business/work

To find information on other international schools, I suggest taking a look at this thread: https://gmatclub.com/forum/ranks-and-clusterings-of-various-international-b-schools-78320.html

Unfortunately, I'm unfamiliar with the procedures for the schools you mentioned, but most schools should have application procedures and deadlines posted on their websites.

From what I've read on this forum, they say to allow for 20 days to get your official scores, but they usually are sent quicker than that.

Some schools also allow you to send official scores after you have sent in your application - you can write in your scores on the application and indicate that the official scores will be following shortly. If you call the AdCom, they should be able to tell you whether this is allowed.

No, I've only been looking at the European MBA programs, so I unfortunately can't provide much insight on schools outside of that region. You might want to try going onto the international b-school forum and doing a search for your schools of interest. There may be some past threads that discuss them.

Hi jhkaas,

Your profile is fair-strong on the academic front. Your GPA is a bit low but that's ok. GMAT of 740 is good and that too from IIT Guwahati.

Your work-ex is on the lower side in terms of number of years. But if you had considerable achievements and can show remarkable work progression, the quantity can be compensated by your quality of experience.

Your extra curricular involvement seem strong and unique. This can turn out in your favor if used wisely in the application.

Hey there, I'm planning to apply before the Aug end deadline. My GMAT score is towards the periphery, so counting on my profile.
My question is, can I ask a former manager of mine (who's not working in my organization anymore) for referral? Is it mandatory to have someone from the current reporting line?
Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks, SH

Sourabh,
It is not necessary to get recommendations from current supervisors. In my case, both my evaluations were from previous supervisors and ISB accepted it.

Dear target11,

Academics - Strong. You have a good score at IITD and an above average GMAT score. Your score and undergrad institution combined gives you a strong hand at academics. Doesn't matter if your score is on second attempt.

Work-experience - Good. With the limited information we have, you seem to have shown quality in your work-experience. Your experience at a bank is also unique that not many ISB applicants show. Moreover, your post MBA goals are in line with your experience. Your CFA also adds to your profile.

Extra-curricular - Decent. You have shown decent involvement in ECs through NGOs.

Overall, we think you are a good fit and strongly encourage you to apply. Considering your background and qualifications, it would not be difficult to move to your desired role/industry.

Hi

Target atleast a 660 for Ontario, 650 for Rotman, 670 for York. They are all in almost the same bracket as far as GMAT is concerned.

Following post might help if you are targeting Canadian B schools : https://blog.apphelp.co.in/2010/08/11/ca ... -montreal/
