I was asked a guesstimate on how many soya meat eaters are there in my city. So yeah, they do ask guesstimates. My goals were tech product management, not even consulting

I personally know 5 Isb interview invites for R1 this year. 3 of them were asked a guesstimate. No point misleading people here, mate. If you know something with certainty, only then post here. Loads of people rely on the information being dished out on forums like this

it may depend on their profile. If they are comparatively fresh graduates or from client facing/sales roles, Guesstimates are a good option to judge their ability to react to sudden questions. Also depends on the alumni and candidate goals who take the interview.......someone working in operations or IT doesn’t need to do guesswork but someone wanting to shift to consulting might need to. Similarly someone wanting to be entrepreneur may need to pitch.

a number of folks have been asked. your basis of information?
I was asked. I didn’t get admitted yet. I think people need to be prepared else they won’t get admitted if they get a surprise guesstimate question.
