Just curious. Why do ISB alumni Mannan/Sarthak and the rest start their own MBA consultancies? Is it such a profitable business? I do agree that MBA outside India does require guidance for Essays and story building. But Indian 1-yr MBAs are more often than not dependent on a combined score based on 10th, Graduation, GMAT, Workex, Essays and Interview. A good GMAT score almost guarantees an interview call (unless you have a very poor academic record). And Essays/Interviews are very subjective. What one likes others may not. So, is this whole MBA consulting thing in India financially viable?
I think if you can utilise your experience to channel a stream of income(maybe one of many) then why not start your MBA consultancy? Consulting work like this I believe doesn’t demand extensive effort given that they have experienced ISB in its full potential(successfully, might I add) and are in it’s literal sense ultimately sharing their knowledge on the topic - which is actually valuable in the market given how competitive the indian education system is in general. There are SO many consultants/counsellors/course providers in the market.
Since ISB follows an international application structure - requiring essays, gmat/gre etc, you can utilise your experience as an ISB applicant to help out potential applicants applying outside of India.
Just my 2 cents🤷🏻♀️
