Hello Everyone,

I am planning to apply in R1. I’m yet to take my GMAT. Is it advisable to hire a consultant to help with essays and application process?

No one has offered any plans. It’s just that I’m wondering if there would be enough time to prepare essays and application

My name is Laksh Johar. I am currently working as an Operations Manager where I lead strategic business planning, digital transformation initiatives, and cross-functional operations to drive efficiency and revenue growth. At the same time I’ve demonstrated leadership and have undertaken numerous compliance initiatives. I’ve been in this role since 2020.

Academics:
Class 10: CGPA 9.2
Class 12: 94.25%
Graduation: 7.14 CGPA (B.Com. Hons)
GMAT focus- 675

Extra-curriculars:
• Led public relations and external sponsorship efforts for multiple student organizations.
• Secured significant sponsorships and executed social media campaigns enhancing institutional outreach.
• Volunteered in community service initiatives focused on primary education and awareness.

I am aiming for the Indian School of Business for the PGP program. Any suggestions as to how I can enhance my profile?

Hi, Please evaluate my profile for ISB and what I can do to improve it

10th - 95%; 12th - 81% ; Graduation NITPY - 81%;
Total years of experience- 5.5
2 yrs - electrical consultant in ETAP
1.5 yrs - Research analyst at synaptic (data platform for investors)
2 yrs - Research Analyst at dss+ (operational consulting firm)

Planning to get into more strategic roles in the consulting domain.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Academics look good. Work-ex tenure is also near the sweet spot. The roles mentioned are analytically strong and seems like you already have a clear link between your work ex and future goals around sustainability consulting. Would love to know more details about the exact nature of projects you have undertaken and any notable hobbies/extra-curriculars. Apart from that it boils down to getting a good GMAT score (665+) and crafting a compelling application that narrates your journey well. Wishing you the very best. Hey kindly evaluate my profile for ISB.
Yet to give Gmat
10th-91%
12th-92% state board
Bcom T2 college grad 82%
3.5 year experience in
(deloitte and pepsico)
Decent ECs(toastmaster and Rotract)
I plan to do MBA to get into more strategic roles in strategy and business finance
Academic part looks good. Deloitte and Pepsico are great brands but we would need more information about your exact nature of work for an objective assessment. Non-engg background might give an edge. Also, would be helpful to know the role you played at Toastmasters and Rotract. Give your future goals more thought - "Strategic roles in strategy and business finance" sounds generic and vague. Wish you the very best for your GMAT exam. Aim for 675+. For a more detailed profile evaluation feel free to reach out to us at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in)

Hi, please evaluate my profile for ISB. I’m planning to apply in Round 1 this year and will be taking my GMAT soon.

Academics:
- 10th (ICSE): 89.16%
- 12th (HSC – Commerce): 79.38%
- BBA (Marketing), NMIMS Mumbai: GPA 3.30/4

Work Experience: 33 months of full-time experience in marketing

Extracurriculars:
- 14+ years of Bharatanatyam training
- Government-certified teacher (Visharad Purna – equivalent to a bachelor’s degree)
- Member of school and college dance teams

Would appreciate your insights on:
- How I can further strengthen my profile and application narrative (I am planning to apply this year)
- Whether a GMAT score of 685+ would be considered competitive for ISB

Thank you!
685+ score is definitely competitive for ISB. Academic scores are okay but not great so definitely aim for a high GMAT score to compensate. Extra-curriculars are very strong. Non-Engg profile adds to the diversity. Would love to know the firm you’re working at and the nature of marketing projects for a holistic assessment. Also, please mention about your future goals, does it clearly link to your existing marketing experience? Wishing you the best for your GMAT exam

I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate from MNNIT Allahabad with over 6 years of experience across the corporate, development, and consulting sectors. I began my career as a Design Engineer at L&T, working on international projects. Driven by my passion for impactful change, I transitioned to the development sector as a Project Associate at Better World Foundation (BWF), and later as a PPIA Fellow with Transform Rural India (TRIF), where I led grassroots governance and development initiatives in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
Currently, I am working with EY LLP as a Project Consultant, based at the District Administration office in Chaibasa, Jharkhand, where I serve as the Programme Officer for Livelihood and Skill Development. This role has deepened my expertise in public service delivery, policy implementation, and stakeholder management.
With a GMAT Focus Edition score of 645, now pursuing an MBA to transition into higher-growth, globally competitive roles in strategy or impact consulting with firms like BCG, Deloitte, Dalberg,EY and consulting also parallel looking in ESG domain.. I am looking to build my career internationally, particularly in the UK, USA, Singapore, or the Middle East. Suggestion for college and any good affordable consultant
Diverse & impactful work and experience in the development sector is highly valued by B-Schools. Your goals also seem aligned with your experience. Would love to know your grades in MNIT and any extracurriculars worth mentioning. If you are looking to work internationally, evaluate the likes of NUS, HEC, INSEAD, LBS, Oxford. While US has always been a lucrative option, given the current situation, I wouldn’t recommend that as the first choice. Also, if possible, try to bump up your GMAT score to 675+ for a much stronger chance at top international schools. Happy to discuss about your plan in more detail at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in)

Ayush, no score can guarantee an admit; however, 665 is a competitive score.
