Hello Shruti1341,

You have a differentiated profile and with a narrative that flows well with your career goals, you stand a good chance.

Of course, how you score on the GMAT is also crucial.

All the best!
Shruti1341
Could you please review my profile.

I am a recent medical graduate from the University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi, where I completed my MBBS with a 70.71% overall score and earned honors in Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Microbiology. My academic path has been driven by discipline and ambition, as reflected in my strong national entrance exam performance (NEET AIR 1694, JIPMER AIR 735).

Alongside my clinical training, I’ve actively pursued leadership and operational roles that have helped me build a broader skill set. I led the operations and registrations for a 700+ participant medical conference, where I streamlined processes by 40%. As an operations analyst intern at Zerro Cafe, I used sales trend data to cut costs by 20% while enhancing service quality and customer experience.

I’ve also had the opportunity to participate in a research exchange in Turkey, working on cancer research with state-of-the-art technology. My passion for global health led me to leadership positions in national student medical organizations, where I organized and participated in over 30 events focused on public health and medical education.

Through these experiences, I’ve developed strong skills in data analysis, strategic thinking, and people management. As I look toward business school, I hope to build on these foundations to drive meaningful change in healthcare systems and operations at a larger scale.

Sure,
Thanks for the feedback! My goal is to become a Brand Manager in FMCG. In job I’ve realized I have conceptual gaps in business knowledge. An MBA will help me formalize my learning, grow faster in my marketing career.
You should be fine! Would focus on the GMAT and ECs for profile building. FMCG is not too far from what you’re currently pursuing. -MBA Conquerors

Can you suggest, what can i work on in the near future, and if there’s something I can setup in the short term?Businessconquerer,
Other than GMAT Score? ECs better aligned with your post-mba goal

Shruti1341 - how many years of full-time work-ex do you have? If you're applying for ISB PGP, the requirement would be 2+ years, with the class average being ~4 - 5 years.

If you're yet to take the GMAT, aiming for a 675+ would be ideal.

Regards,
Arvind

Garima25 - Aiming for a 665 - 675+ on the GMAT would be ideal, considering your target programs.

The career break would need to be explained in the application(s), ideally also showing some up-skilling during that time. It'd also be important to have a strong narrative covering your experiences, career goals, and how an MBA fits in.

For some more insights, check out this success story debrief of a candidate with public sector experience who got into ISB

Regards,
Arvind

Hi everyone,

I have 6 years and 9 months of professional experience as a Consultant with the Ministry of Environment, Government of India. For the past 16 months, I have been on a career break due to childcare responsibilities. I’m now preparing to re-launch my career and am planning to take the GMAT in September 2025 with the goal of joining a top-tier business school in India for the 2026 intake.

I would appreciate insights on:

What would be considered a competitive GMAT score for top Indian programs like ISB, IIM Lucknow (IPMX), and SPJIMR?

What are the acceptance rates or chances for candidates with my profile—strong public sector experience and a recent career break?

Thank you in advance for your guidance!

Good morning!
I completed my mbbs one week ago
I don’t have any full time work ex, only one year of compulsory internship in a govt setup (and I think that doesn’t count as a full time job)
Therefore, I am planning to apply for the PGP YL program

Hey yea you will be eligible to apply for the program. Your one year will be considered provided you can showcase your experience in a broader way highlighting overall experience and not just pure patient related experience!

I have a decent Gmat score and would like to apply to renowned Indian B-schools. I have 5 years of experience in a slightly informal family business setup. Although I can present it formally, in quantitative and qualitative terms. But I’m still
nervous as to whether Indian B schools would appreciate that sort of work ex or if that might hamper my chances. Can anyone give me any inputs on how the schools might perceive my application with respect to the work ex? And what can be done in order to make up for its drawbacks (if any)

So post my MBA, I’m looking to grow in the product stream, with an impactful role in preferably high-impact consumer first opportunities, Since my product domain exposure yet has been targeted towards B2B problems only. Keeping this in mind could you suggest some EC’s I could start work on and expand?
