No problem! Good luck for your applications

We don’t have a DIY Page for ISB otherwise I’d have recommended that you can just use that. But there are resume and LOR samples that might still help. It’s free anyhow, so feel free to check it out

Is "Male - IIT graduate", an overrepresented applicant community for ISB as well?
Definitely not. An IIT degree does confer an advantage Himanshu.

Hello Aditya2901,

You have some impressive academic credentials as well as extra-curricular activities and the experience with Goldman Sachs will prove to be beneficial to your overall case.

You should look for a score in excess of 675 on the GMAT; this will give you a good chance of receiving an interview call - the higher your score, the better it will be.

No, applying in R2 does not put you at a disadvantage at ISB.

All the best!

Your academic background as well as the gap will need some explanation. To offset the low GPA, you should look at scoring as high as you can on the GMAT; the aim should be to score around 675 or above.

All the best!

Hello Smeetbhanu,

To offset one aspect of your profile, it helps to have a spike in another aspect; hence aiming for a score in excess of 685 on the GMAT will help you stand out.

Rest, a lot will depend on the clarity in your career goals and the strength of your overall narrative.

All the best!
Smeetbhanu
I would be grateful if any of you could evaluate my profile for the ISB PGP program:

10th Grade: 87% (State Board)

12th Grade: 84% (State Board)

Graduation: B.Com – 8.44 CGPA

Professional Qualification: Chartered Accountant (Nov 2022)

Work Experience:

(Big 4) – Tax Transfer Pricing Associate (Mar 2023 – Sept 2024)

Investment Banking – Associate (Primary Markets, Leading a Team of 3) (April 2025 – Present)

Extracurriculars: Limited

I would appreciate your honest feedback on:

My overall competitiveness for ISB PGP for R1 Sept 25.

The ideal GMAT or GRE score I should aim for to significantly strengthen my application, given the above.

Any suggestions to offset limited extracurricular involvement.

Hey,

You have a solid academic track, especially in Class XII, and your 3 years of experience at Amadeus as a Frontend Developer gives you a good tech foundation. That said, your current GMAT score of 595 is on the lower side for ISB. Most successful applicants fall in the GMAT Focus Edition range of 675–715, with a strong concentration around 690+. Since you’re coming from a competitive applicant pool (engineering + tech), you’ll want to aim for the upper end of that range to stand out.

If you’re serious about ISB, pushing your score closer to 685–700 (GMAT Focus) could make a significant difference. Your story and goals will also matter — so once the score is in place, how you frame your narrative will play a huge role.

Let me know if you’d like help with prep strategy or building your ISB application.

Hey,

You’re in a strong position for ISB’s PGP. You’ve got a solid academic base with a B.Com (8.44 CGPA) and Chartered Accountant qualification, and your professional journey stands out. Experience in a Big 4 firm followed by a switch to Investment Banking especially in a leadership role gives your profile both depth and direction. Even with limited extracurriculars, your career moves and responsibilities show real momentum.

That said, to stay competitive, you’ll want to aim for a GMAT Focus score of 685+ or a GRE score of 325+. This will not only help offset the lighter extracurricular section but also reinforce your academic strength. To further round out your profile, try to highlight leadership, team management, or any high-impact initiatives at work. Even small, meaningful extracurricular efforts over the next few months can help add dimension to your application.

With the right score and a well-crafted narrative around your transition from CA to IB and future goals, you’d have a compelling case for ISB. Let me know if you’d like help with strategy or storytelling.
