twinkle2311 - interesting profile overall!

On the GMAT - was this your first attempt, and was the score in line with your mock tests or expectations? If possible, try to bump it up by 10-20+ points, as that would help improve chances.

The post-MBA goals would need some brainstorming/ discussions, as transitioning to IB/PE from a non-finance background will require a very compelling narrative. Alternatively, it may be worth reassessing the goals.

@admitStreet, Thanks for your feedback, Arvind!
This was actually my second GMAT attempt (Jan ’25)—my first was back in Nov ’21, where I scored a 650 on the GMAT Classic. I do plan to reattempt, but with CFA prep underway, I’m unsure if I’ll be able to take it again before Round 1.
While my current profile leans toward analytics and consulting, my background isn’t entirely non-finance. My undergrad coursework focused heavily on finance and accounting, and I’ve also done internships in equity research. I am pursuing CFA to strengthen my finance credentials. I’m quite clear about my long-term goals in investment banking, PE, or real estate, and would really appreciate your thoughts on how to shape my narrative to make a strong case.
Thanks!

twinkle2311 - Thanks for the additional context!

Crafting a strong narrative will take some introspection and brainstorming, but here are a few questions to reflect on that can help guide your thought process:

- What transferable skills do you bring to your post-MBA goals?

- Which short-term roles (e.g. Strategy/ FS Consulting) can best bridge the gap to your long-term goals?

- How are you demonstrating both commitment and realism toward breaking into your target roles?

Researching more about transitions made by candidates (ideally with similar profiles) can also offer helpful perspective.

Hope this helps!

Regards,
Arvind

Hey,

For merit-based scholarships, you’re generally considered automatically — there’s no need to apply separately. But for need-based or merit-cum-need scholarships, you’ll need to submit additional documents like income proof, and in some cases, write an essay. If you’re aiming for a diversity scholarship, even if your profile reflects your background, it’s still a good idea to explicitly mention it in the optional scholarship essay if you’re serious about being considered. That added clarity helps ISB evaluate your case more effectively.
