Hi , I need one small clarification , Does ISB accept GRE right ? but why still people saying they prefer only Gmat.
ISB officially accepts
both GMAT and GRE scores for admission to its PGP and other programs. There is
no official preference stated by ISB for one over the other.
In fact, in recent years, the number of GRE-based admits has increased significantly. What matters far more than
which test you take is:
- Your percentile equivalence
- The balance between percentiles of different sections of the tests
- The strength of your overall profile (academics, work experience, essays, and clarity of goals)
There are multiple reasons that have led to the wrong perception of GMAT being a preferred test. Traditionally, ISB applicants (especially from India) have used the GMAT for several years. So most of the admitted student data, average scores, and sample profiles you see online are GMAT-based. The average GMAT score for admits is published every year, whereas GRE averages are not as widely reported; this fuels the perception that GMAT is the default. Many ISB alumni and consultants are more familiar with GMAT profiles, so their success stories are GMAT-heavy. Some recruiters (especially consulting firms) historically used GMAT as a benchmark for analytical ability, which also reinforced the bias.
