Admit calls all seemed to come out in the 5-6pm eastern range (4-5 central). Calls came out basically daily while dings came out in bunches.

I received my call at 3 something PM eastern time, so 5-6pm range is not necessarily true.

Does anyone have a recommendation for getting to the Evanston Campus from Midway? Metra Commuter Train or Chicago Transit Authority? Whats the difference?

There is a Metra line that goes right into evanston and I was told its the faster of the train options. If you decide to take a cab make sure you call an evanston cab company (I used northshore cabs, pm for the number if you want it). They charge a flat rate of $50 instead of a meter rate (meter is 1.5 time since its out of the downtown zones) which I have heard can easily be double the flat rate. The cab ride took about an hour with some traffic.

I feel your pain pandeyrav! Oh well, it looks like I might be going back to my alma mater for b-school. At least the wait is over.

Time to sell my condo in Evanston!

Good luck everyone. I'm sure it will all work out for the best.

The Metra is the large commuter train that only goes into and out of the city. As far as I know, there is no Metra train that goes to/from Midway. Only the orange line of the CTA (basically the subway except it's above ground) goes there. That said, you could take the orange line from Midway into the city, and then switch to the purple line to go up Evanston. Kind in mind though, that the purple line going north only runs during high traffic hours and NOT on the weekend. However, you could take the orange line from Midway into the city, and then take the Metra up to Evanston. Taking the trains will probably involve a significant amount of time - maybe 2 to 3 hours.

Midway is very south of the city, Evanston is very north of the city. Commuting by train or bus is very difficult to navigate even if you're a native Chicagoan (like me), plus it's super time-consuming. Personally, if you have the $ to spare, I'd take a cab or rent a car.

unlucky pandy and branson...

I'm still waiting for my decision. Can't check it at the moment as i haven't got my PIN number on me. Stuck in Vancouver.. My plane has suffered mechanical difficulties so hanging around the lounge for the next XX hours. Bah! the downfalls of constant flying :(

On a different tip... I'm being headhunted for a product management role in the UK, by a (small) high-tech company that specialises in my industry  . Got an e-mail from one of their people inviting me to apply for the role along with a detailed job description. The position hasn't even been posted on their public website yet!

On another note, i wet my pants earlier this week when i received an 'unknown number' this week when it woke me up from my slumber. None of the schools know i am in Vancouver so the time the call was made would have been when i was awake in Tokyo. Unfortunately it only rang once before i could answer it. Probably someone in Japan ringing me and cutting off when they realised iwas not in the country

Seems like a nice back-up option. Good luck with Kellogg and your other apps.

Re: Calling all Kellogg Fall'08 applicants [#permalink]
I was curious how R2 was going so far, so over to https://www.admissions411.com I surfed. I must admit I am completely shocked by what I saw. R1 admits came out slowly a few reported online (here, bw, admin411) each day it seemed like but so did the dings. R2 well here are the numbers...

Applicants 121 - 100%
Interviewed 87 - 72%
Accepted 2 - 2%
Dinged 19 - 16%

R1 only had like 38% report dings (a lot of people who are unknown can be assumed to be dings though). Day one of dings for R2 and almost half way to that percentage. Seems like R2 they are giving out lots of dings very early on, compared to R1 where they were steadily released at a slower pace. Hopefully today is a better day for you guys than yesterday was.

Another interesting number on admin411 was that as of 9am eastern Kellogg has 269 applicants while chicago only shows 199. On here there seem to be far more GSB people for R2 than K...can we call that the Rhyme factor?

That is really something! I too am awaiting a decision. It's frustrating because I missed the Round 1 deadline by literally 2 days. I guess looking at their website and stuff beforehand, they made it seem like chances were at least fairly comparable for Round 1 and 2. These stats look more like they should be representing the Round 3 pool! But I guess I have been hearing that this year was an especially applicant heavy/competitive one. With regards to their servers and e-mails, as far as I'm concerned they've been having problems with that this entire season. I had the unfortunate experience of getting an erroneous acceptance/financial aid e-mail back in December. They even had my status on the status check site listed as accepted! When I called the admissions office it took them about 20 minutes to find my profile and then inform me, without apology, that the status was in error. So, obviously, I wasn't pleased. Best of luck to all of the fellow applicants still waiting!

Re: Calling all Kellogg Fall'08 applicants [#permalink]
I dont know how closely you guys have been following this thread since it really has picked up speed in the last few days but after I got back from DAK I posted some of the stuff they told us.

I wouldnt go so far as to say R2 is much more difficult than R1, yes it probably is harder but remember a lot of R1 folks are the extremely focused ones. Many have been planning on applying for at least a couple years, and so in reality it probably has a lot of the most competitive applicants. R2 has the largest number of applicants and if applications are way up like they alluded to during DAK then that probably explains some of the numbers. R3 is a whole other beast, that is vastly more difficult than R1 or R2
