haha, mba2010, you're right, but I've been keeping a "door" open for Kellogg to woo me if they accept me :) Otherwise I would have matriculated at Haas already.

river, I know, I'm just conveying exactly what the adcom told me at the San Diego infosession I went to. I'm not trying to suggest anything other than that. She may be exaggerating, but she literally told me to apply R1 because "we only get 400+ application R1 and can read leisurely, while we get 4000 in R2 and barely have time to read"

Don't shoot the messenger :P

If you want flowers and candy from Kellogg, you're not gonna get it! I'm giving up a Duke scholarship to go here

Although the Admissions411 data probably isn't terribly accurate, based on the information below, I think we can draw a more drastic conclusion.

Of the 121 applicants, only 87 are listed as having interviewed. With 19 people dinged, that implies an actual ding percent of as much as 19/87 = 21%. Obviously, some users haven't updated their accounts to indicate they're been interviewed (or to indicate they've been dinged). Unless I'm missing something, we should probably ignore those users who haven't yet reported an interview because a) their applications haven't even reached the committee yet or b) they aren't updating their status. Using that logic, Kellogg has already dinged 20% of the Admissions411 crowd for Round 2.

I was curious how R2 was going so far, so over to https://www.admissions411.com I surfed. I must admit I am completely shocked by what I saw. R1 admits came out slowly a few reported online (here, bw, admin411) each day it seemed like but so did the dings. R2 well here are the numbers...

Applicants 121 - 100%
Interviewed 87 - 72%
Accepted 2 - 2%
Dinged 19 - 16%

R1 only had like 38% report dings (a lot of people who are unknown can be assumed to be dings though). Day one of dings for R2 and almost half way to that percentage. Seems like R2 they are giving out lots of dings very early on, compared to R1 where they were steadily released at a slower pace. Hopefully today is a better day for you guys than yesterday was.

Another interesting number on admin411 was that as of 9am eastern Kellogg has 269 applicants while chicago only shows 199. On here there seem to be far more GSB people for R2 than K...can we call that the Rhyme factor?

haha, well, you never know. :) I probably would not give up my Haas scholarship to go to Kellogg. So from the looks of it, I may be going to DAK just to confirm my suspicions...

haha, I have to get in *first*... Still no call, and 5 more weeks to go. This Haas Kool-Aid is making me quite drunk already. :)

Kellogg needs to start to show some love soon before I give in to Haas. :P

Married or not, Ms is always better. IMHO, Mrs is only used if you are going to address her as Mrs <Husbands name>, which is old fashioned. Plus she is accomplished in her own right.

Definitely go with Ms. I am an not-married female - and I've had people call me Mrs. and I find it somewhat offensive, as if I'm not capable of being a successful woman unless I'm a Mrs. I know I'm totally overreacting there, because I'm sure they didn't know what to call me, so I didn't hold it against anyone. But to avoid that whole situation, ALWAYS use Ms.

Maybe I'm too progressive, but I think it is entirely appropriate to address all of your interviewers by their first names. It lends a sense of maturity to your communication; you have every right to act as if you are their peer in the working world, regardless of age. Just my two cents.

Its safer to start an interview in a formal manner. You dont know the person on a first name basis, call them Ms, Mr, Mrs, or Dr. They will quickly tell you what you should refer to them as. I know I called both of my interviewers Mr. and they both then said to call them by their first name. Its easier to start formal and not offend than to backtrack if they are a very rigid person.
