Yeah, I know you said the offer was open if you got into Chicago. I would like to think that's a when for you. :)

Although, either way, I would be happy for you to take a quick look, if you wouldn't mind.

Thanks

Guys, another DING...I guess..

I got the status update email like 20 min before and the status reads
Thank you for your interest in the Kellogg School of Management.

The system is unable to determine your current status, please contact the admissions office at 847-491-3308 or [email protected] for more information.

I guess they are just updating it but the lack of phone call confirms a DING.....K goes out of the window for Fall'08

Lets see how the gods smile w.r.t other schools...

Could it be a waitlist ? it might be a good idea to not conclude without seeing the actual email. Even if its a ding, i am sure you will get better news from other schools. Kellogg's loss will be some other schools gain. cheer up !

Guys,
Its Official.......its a DING........surprisingly, does not hurt as much as I thought it would.
thats maybe after a decent interview at Chicago, I see a light at the end of the tunnel and hope that it is not that of an on coming train.
BTW, no news from ROSS and SLOAN.....

vij101,

I like your attitude a lot!

Meanwhile, I have memorized my log-in info for Kellogg's status check... I think I am growing increasingly obsessive :-D

I got a ding today.

riverripper & MGO

I started with Kellogg essays & spent the entire September writing them. Like others, I felt K covered a wide range of topics that would form a template for other schools. I visited in September, attended classes & researched extensively. I detailed in each essay how I could contribute as much as gain from K. Right down to specifics on projects, courses, clubs etc. I also had some good XC activities to talk about. The interview on campus with the adcom went extremely well so I am was certainly disappointed to get a reject.

While I agree that Kellogg cares about fit & focus, stats & age (to one extent) play an equally important role in the decision. Especially if you belong to an 'oversubscribed' pool. I don't believe essays by themselves will sway the admissions committee. I am sure we'll get a better picture of the admits in a few days.

Tough break vij, best of luck with the rest of your apps. The wait for GSB is not much longer. Last year I believe there was much getter success for GSB on here than kellogg.

Nervous are you going to have to change your screenname to stressedapplicant. My advice is dont look until 7pm each night. Phone calls go out in the 5-6pm, I got mine at 5:15, and believe MBA2010 and MGoBlue both got theirs in that time frame too.

Ya...if GSB clicks, it will be fun as I will for sure go there and join hands with Rhyme in drowning K.....
Seriously...have to start looking at a viable option as I am pretty clear I need to start my MBA in 08. and the prolonged Silence from Ross and Sloan makes me start looking at other schools..I just found that good old Carlson (U of Minn, Twin Cities) has a great medical device industry oriented program and lots of industry contacts...I am planning to check it out further....

Sorry to hear about the ding. Yes stats and age are going to be important at any school. Stats its always good to be above the mean and age its always good to be within a year or two of it.

Kellogg seems nearly impossible for people with less than 2 years experience. I think almost 100% of their class has that, so you can count those who dont on one hand.

First off, sorry to hear about the ding. I know it must hurt. There are other schools so I hope this doesn't keep you down for long.

Yes, of course stats/age matter. But I think unless you are extremely young like River mentioned or significantly over 30, you should be okay. The problem is that so many people have good stats, that the only thing that can make someone stand out is the essays. There is no guarantee for success, but there are guarantees for rejection. So that is what I emphasize the essays. Because at this point, the R2 applicants cannot control their gpa, gmat score, or work experience. But they CAN complete their application with killer essays.

a good friend and co-worker of mine just got a call from Kellogg and was accepted. Hrm... now that I know of two people with similar profiles as me already in at Kellogg, my chances might have just gone down... :?

5-6pm seems to be when east coast people get their calls...so if you are in the eastern time zone you would most likely get the call in that time frame. That is not to say you wont get a call in the middle of the afternoon but they seem to try to time the calls.

They seem to call people on their cell phones (probably most likely way to get ahold of people) and the number will show up as unknown.
