Solid grades, 710 GPA.
I know River has been posting about the high GMAT scores, and maybe he is on to something, I don't know. But frankly, as he alluded to in his other post, its really about the essays. The K essays are hard. Very hard. Especially for younger candidates who don't have diverse experiences. I actually thought my K essays were the worst of all my R1 applications, because I am only three years out of school and only have so many experiences to share. That said, I knew why I wanted K. K has been a dream school for mine for years, and I was well researched. Do the same. PM me or River, friends, anyone. K and Chicago are NOT similar so the approach cannot be the same.
If you do not have a strong idea of why K, you will likely get dinged. The school's essays focus so much on why K, and what you will bring to K, that you can't just copy and paste.
And you MUST find someone that will challenge your essays and tell you when they suck. I was re-writing up until the last week and I am so grateful friends told me when parts were not strong bc sometimes, we are blinded by our accomplishments that sound better in our head than on paper.

Glad you fessed up MGOBlue, like I said people like to hear that others are getting in. The more that get in the more hope it gives those remaining and the R2 people and of course next years applicants.
I agree on the essay front. Every one of my essays pretty much had a way of talking about fit. Kellogg is big on people that fit within their school. Even in the #4 essays I made sure to put why Kellogg and how what I was writing about would add value to the class.
The more details you can put the better. Pick your majorS, they expect people to have multiple so say you want at least two and explain why. Pick clubs, and also pick one you want a leadership roll. Pick classes you want to take, their listing is available online dig through it to find something interesting (bonus if its not a generic marketing class taught by the big name professor...it shows more thought to dig into the listing). Also they are HUGE on the global aspect now, they require everyone to go overseas on at least one trip for school...write how much you love that and are excited about it. Make your industry seem like it requires global experiences. If you have a specific job industry mention it and the rolls you want. Mine is extremely specialized, and one of the biggest companies happens to be in Chicago so I made sure to specify that specific place...this doesnt work for finance when you say you want to work at goldman. But dont be afraid to say you are a huge harley rider and want to work in their marketing department.
Anyone who wants a quick read of essays let me know. As long as you dont expect proofreading I am more than happy to give you pointers on content and approach. Sorry about proofreading that just takes so much time and focus that it would limit my help to just a few people. At this point the only essays I wrote that I know where effective are Kelloggs so those the essays I want to limit it to for now. If by some chance I get into Chicago I will try to help people there. Take advantage of this offer soon though, because I will most likely be skiing all christmas vacation and probably wont have an internet connection.
