Congrats BCC!!!

Sorry to hear, R.E.D. Good luck with Tuck!

I interviewed around the same time as Riverripper, but still no decision for me. Could this be waitlist territory (I know it's supposed to be random)? We shall see...

I am having the same thoughts, faceman. I think last year Kellogg released its WLs at the very end (Rhyme got his on the day of the deadline for R1 decisions).
I also interviewed around the same time river did (two days later). Looking at the stats here, there are only a few people still waiting for decisions. If adcoms do not agree on the candidate initially, it might take longer to reach a decision, and that decision is more likely to be a WL or deny than admit. So I am starting to think that I belong to a "maybe" category. We shall see...

After 5.5 hours of sleep, I woke up to find the good news. ~4am seems to be a good time for me :) I checked the K Status Check website at 11am and my status has already been updated. No more obsessions with this site!

Thanks guys. The people on this forum have been my support and inspiration and so I will try to help and contribute to the forum. This is the least that I can do :)

R.E.D. –
Sorry to hear about your ding. I hope you successes in all your other applications.

Thanks. Yes, I believe I am the first K admit in Thailand ... at least as far as I know. A bit of an ego boost for me :) This also means that K have already started rolling out decisions for Thai applicants. So you decided to apply for R2?

krazak & river – Sure thing.

I have always been hesitant to post my profile. There is just so much more to each person than just numbers, but I also understand the value of it for this club.

See: https://www.gmatclub.com/forum/t53748?start=40

IF I get in at W then I will worry about it. Among the things I will consider will be location and the alumni network in my country.

I also read your profile… funny that K already accepted two engineers in nuke :) I am not in nuke anymore but still in energy.

Good luck to everybody else waiting for the decision!!!

EDIT: # of edits because of my light head... must be the 5.5 hours of sleep. Nothing to the content.

Maybe we should head out to Evanston and help them reach a positive final decision. ;-)

I'm in the Boston-area, so I've been waiting for my phone to buzz every day between 5 and 6...it's killing me. Yesterday it buzzed at 5:15, but it turned out to be a text message. Not only that, but it was an ad!!!

I still haven't heard of a single WL so they are still debating people, so have faith people. Kellogg really does like to form a diverse class, BCC and I both being in nuclear and in energy is funny.

It would be great at 6pm to read the last 4 all found out today and you all got in. That probably wont happen though, and some people are going to have to continue to stare at their phone ever evening and anxiously open emails all day long. I know the wait has to be torture at this point, especially considering 75% of us at least have decision at this point. I still think we will see another acceptance or two on here from Kellogg.

Unfortunately, judging by last year, there are going to be the people who are going to wait until January and get waitlisted. If you get WL by Kellogg, that is a great sign for almost every other school though. I mean Rhyme was WL by K and ended up in GSB and a lot of other people who get WL either end up eventually getting in or going to other top schools.

Question from a R2 applicant...I am a little behind with Kellogg R2 apps, unfortunately. Will get to it this weekend. I heard Part 1 is fairly easy, is that correct?

So for the Dec 21st R2 Part 1 deadline, Just fill out some info and submit?

The majority of the stuff (essays + rec) can be done by Jan 11th, R2 Part 2 deadline?

Do the transcripts and GMAT have to be in by part 1 or part 2?

Much thanks.

Part 1 is pretty easy but dont underestimate it and leave it to the last day. I believe it has a place to scan transcripts, put job responsibilities, extra curriculars, and biographical info. However, if I remember correctly you dont complete the info for recs until part 2, you may list them in part 1 but you have to get to part 2 to actually have the form sent to them. I think I got to part 2 and sent them the forms before I submitted part 1.

Question...maybe stupid, but here it goes...
Does anybody know if adcom compare candidates in Round 2 to those accepted in Round 1 at all? Or the candidates will only be compare to those applied in Round 2?

the only dumb question it the one not asked. The adcoms have what they are looking for in candidates, generally its the same round by round. However, R1 is going to be easier because EVERY slot is still open. Since they want a diverse class they take people with varied backgrounds.

Round 2 wont be compared to Round 1 as a whole. However, the final decisions where they are unsure will be compared against WL students. It may well be the R1 WL is a stronger candidate and they will accept them off the WL and ding the R2 applicant.

For all of the applicants still waiting, here is what I read on the BW today:

Q: Would you be able to give us a rough estimate of how many apllication statuses have been decided up to now? 30%... etc?

Adcom: Sorry, we don't really release stats like that--but it's less than half at this point.

Best Regards,
Kristen

Interesting, the pace has definitely picked up. Week 1 hardly anyone found out. Last week the first batch of dings came out and the number of admits drastically increased. This week should have even more than last. BW shows almost no activity during the first week. Last week was steady and yesterday had a flurry of activity. Same with admissions411 and even here on a smaller scale.

I said someone woudl find out soon yesterday and BCC got in, maybe I should say that again so someone else finds out tonight.

Thanks River...

I believe my concern is valid. I know friends of the same nationality/background who applied R1 and if they get in, I wanted to know if my R2 seat will be compare against them at all. (Say if they already have an engineer of the same country, will they pick another engineer from that country? and according to you, the answer is "No")

Anyways, not trying to analyze too much.
I'll just have to work harder on my essays :)
