How come no one claimed wait-list yet?

because WL is only announced on the deadline day. (I have a strong feeling that I will be on there)...

-will

Not true...WL are a rolling process as well.

Really? I am surprised we haven't seen anyone on here or BW end up on the WL if that is the case.

I was waitlisted last year about two weeks before the Round 2 deadline.

Waitlist usually come out later in the process. In the very beginning all the decisions are admits, followed not too long after by dings...waitlists come out later after they know exactly how the rounds are going.

From my understanding, the two schools don't like really like each other. So given their rivalry status, Kellogg will probably do it just for the sake of bragging rights...

There may be a little rivalry but I dont think there is much anomosity between the schools or even students. This isnt Ohio State vs U of Michigan. Our deans talk with each other routinely, our schools invite students from the other to confrences and events. As for bragging rights I dont think the two schools really do what they do to get one over the other school, they are competing against far more than just each other. In many ways outside of people who desire to be in Chicago, I think Chicago has a more natural rivalry with other finance bigs like Wharton and Columbia.

Good luck today guys...probably going to be some good news later for some of you. Hopefully not too much bad news.

Guys dont give up if you see that status...it does go both ways after that. All that means is they are updating your status so you will find out shortly. Yes percentagewise more get dinged than admits after that. However, remember far more people get dinged than get admitted anyways.

River, how does the system work for updating status? say they take off database of say 100 applicant offline, and then make changes, then update? should not take that longer.

Wouldn't they call ahead of time before changing the status if it was an admit? Or am I looking at this the wrong way?

From a few pages back:

Quote:
...this is how the online system seems to work. Note this may not be 100% accurate but I know someone who actually asked adcoms about this this fall and they know it hapens. However, remember if you dont read this or BW obsessively you probably wouldnt know what the little technicality is. Remember only a small percentage of people actually know this glitch and what it "means"

Alright so you start with normal status but to change it they have to take you out of the system to update your status to whatever it is. Now they can't email you that your dinged until they have the status changed online. So if you sit there all day and press F5 there is a very good chance you will catch it when your status gets taken down so they can update it.

However, why do people get calls before they see that unknown message? Well think about it, the adcoms know this happens, they know you know it happens. So do they want to cause lots of anxiety to the people who are getting admitted? Nope, so they call them and then will update their status after the call.

Occasionally admits get the status change online, but thats probably because the timing of the people making the calls gets slowed down but whoever is doing the updates does all of them. There are a lot of reasons this can and does happen, I dont know all of those reasons but it does happen. I believe Steel got the email before he got the call last year.

If you are an international with a very different timezone there is a high likelihood you will get the status update online since they arent going to want to call you at 2am your time.

How long does it take? longer than you would think. They might do a several hundred a day at times, the also have to make sure everyone gets the correct decision 100% of the time...lots of double checking this stuff so no one gets an opps sorry you really were dinged or oh but guess what you really were admitted.

Emails and calls will probably be coming out in the not too distant future.

A bunch of other schools go through the same thing they just take your status down the day or night before decision deadlines so no one thinks much of it.
