OK, I may just lose my mind if I don't hear something -- anything -- from Kellogg before the week is out. Playing this waiting game is torture. Ahh!

try to relax...AT LEAST you havent been dinged. And the next two days will probably all be good news. So...you can relax a little I guess. :D

I find it hard to work on my booth essays. I definitely have my heart set on Kellogg, and hope i don't end up waiting and procrastinating only to get dinged on the last day.

I feel your pain. I have an R2 app in waiting as a safety and can't motivate to work on it until I get word from Kellogg.

Currently finishing up my R2 essays. I know this has probably already been beaten to death here but I would be curious what some people's thoughts are on the differences between Kellogg and Booth. For me it seems the big one is Kellogg's reputation for Marketing and Booth's reputation for Finance (neither of which really concern me) but I'd be curious what some of the R1'ers who already went through this issue came up with. Out-of-class activities, especially social ones would be good to know, heck even useful links (no need for filler prose on official school websites). PM me if you'd like.

Thanks from an int'l who unfortunately can't make it to Chicago pre-application deadline.

In terms of clubs and extracurriculars I think you'll find the same or similar ones at both Booth and Kellogg. Culturally the schools are very different though. When I spoke to students at Booth and asked what made their school unique, they focused on intellectual matters (quality of faculty, flexibility of curriculum, intellectual focus of students). My interviewer even gave the example of students talking about finance and economics when they're out at bars and coffee shops. Kellogg students on the other hand talked about teamwork, collaboration, and the student-run nature of the school.

That's what I see as the main difference.

I didn't apply to Booth. For me, nearly all of the programs I decided to apply to had two underlying themes: strong in social enterprise, and known as a very collaborative, community-oriented environment. Kellogg seemed to fit the bill on both of those better than Booth. That's not to say Booth isn't an incredible program -- I'm sure it is. In fact, a colleague of mine is a Booth alum who raves about it. But Kellogg seemed like a better fit in my case.

Also, geography wasn't a big factor for me (beyond wanting to get out of New York for two years). But if I was really set on being in Chicago, I would have probably taken a much closer look at Booth.

I'm curious as to how many calls are they doing a day. If its only a 5-10 minute call, I don't see why there are so few.

I think BW/GMATClub is a small sample size... I can't imagine we all represent more than 5-10% of the applying population.. maybe less.

More like 2-3%. 6k apps this year and we will have about 120 people apply from gmatclub this year.

Good call... so K could be making a ton of calls, and we may only hear about one in fifty. Combine in BW, and you probably have closer to that 5% mark. But still pretty thin....

Let's not forget at least 40% stuff at BW is BS....

I personally think BW has become a playground for so called "consultants" to attract innocent applicants for quick cash...

I just called the Admissions Office - and was told that the Ad Com is not releasing any decisions from today through the end of this week. They will start releasing decisions again on Monday.

Guess we will see after Christmas...
