Everyone gets an email notification when their status is updated, however most admits - especially those within a reasonable number of time-zones from Evanston - will also get a phone call from the adcom before they get the email update.

I know this is much easier said than done, but the best thing to do is not think about Kellogg. Decisions truly will be released from next Monday all the way through to the decision deadline, so not hearing on Monday or even next week is not an indicator that you're getting a ding. Just sit tight and when it's your turn to hear you will hear.

Hang in there and good luck.

Just to reiterate that point - one of my best friends here at Kellogg got his admit call at 4:59pm on the decision day.

I could only imaging how painful that wait was.... Admit or Ding, I want to hear it Monday at 9 AM!

Well, let's hope they push the majority of decisions out within the first few days next week although it may prove to be difficult contacting so many people within a short time window.

This has been stressful as they pushed back the initial R2 decisions by ~3 weeks, not exactly "rolling" admissions. I requested to have an earlier decision made several weeks ago but no such luck so far - other schools were far more flexible and contacted me personally about my request, which gave me a very positive vibe.

Yea, I too was a little surprised by the pushed-back date for decision release in R2 this year. I don't know the reason why, but I'm sure there's a perfectly legitimate reason. I'm just hoping that it's not because the R2 applicant pool is super competitive this year.

Clearly they are drastically increasing the class size and admitting us all.

I believe it is because the applicant pool is super competitive this year.

So I was snooping around a little and found this in the 2/1 chat transcript with Beth Flye at Kellogg admissions:

Q: Can you compare and contrast the number of applications you've received this year vs. last?

BethFlyeKellogg: Our applications are slightly up compared with this time last year. There are no dramatic differences between the rounds thus far and the quality continues to be strong.

...

Q: How competitive has the applicant pool been this year both in terms of quality and raw numbers?

BethFlyeKellogg: I am pleased to report that the quality of the applicant pool continues to be outstanding, and it is on par with the pools from recent years. As for the volume, we are slightly up compared with this time last year.

So unless something big happened after 2/1, it seems that this should not have been caused by a huge uptick in number of applications. Anyway, I'm probably reading too much into it as it is, but it's very hard not to think about it with decision release so, so close.

like milias said, it could very well be an administrative delay on their part. no point speculating since the start date is official now.

Kellogg is not rolling admissions. Historically, decisions have started to be released in advance of the decision date, but there's no reason to expect that the timing of when decisions start in one year has any bearing on when they'll start to be released in any subsequent year.

I would expect that many decisions will go out in the next 2 weeks, but as I said in my last post decisions will continue to go out up until the deadline. Because it's not rolling admissions, when you submitted/interviewed has no influence on when you'll get your decision. Applications really are reviewed in a random order.

Just sit tight, you've waited this long and will know the outcome soon enough.
