If I were a marketing executive at businessweek forums, I would be pretty happy with MBAHopefor2012 and/or 2010MBAhopeful for directing so much traffic to that forum.

So for all those that say Interview doesn't matter, I think I can prove it does, (at least for marginal candidates).

First year, Great Interview, 3 classes in on my masters, mostly engineering/technical background, waitlist.

Second Year, Bad Interview with adcom, finished my masters, strong lead roles at my company with project and certification blah blah blah... Ding.

What really sucks is that as a reapp, the Interview was optional.

how do you know good interview/bad interview? i am not able to figure out if my interview was good or bad...feel good about some things, ambiguous about others...

Well I didn't think it was really that good my first year around, but looking back it was good. we talked about school, goals, then we talked like normally about our lives, extracirricular activities, where my industry was going, how much she enjoyed school. like 1.5 hours worth. It's like talking to a friend of a friend you just met at a party.

Adcom was 30 minutes, monologue mostly, the questions I asked her just didn't get the responses I were looking. I did make some mistakes in choices.

They could have just sent out a few acceptances. If you think about it..these forums only represent a sample of the pool of applicants. So even if they called only 20% of all acceptances..if u do the math...there really wouldnt be more than a few people who would have been accepted AND who are on these forums. Just a thought.

The calls come from members of the adcom (who if you interviewed on campus may also have been your interviewer). While decisions are definitely starting to go out today there's no reason to expect that a majority of round 2 decisions will be communicated today. If you consider how many people are accepted in each round, it would be a tall order for the adcom to call a majority of them in one day. I think you should expect to see it follow the timing of round 1, with most decisions going out over the next 2 weeks.

Hang in there guys, you've come this far and the waiting is almost over.

Anyone know why Kellogg releases decisions in this manner? Have they really not come to a decision on the applicants who don't hear today?
Are they waiting for some other piece of information to trickle in? Say deposits from R1 admits??

OTOH I should just give up. Bad interview and average recs.

How do you evaluate your recs to average? My recommenders were thoughtful enough to let me review and I thought they were good because they fit, and enhanced, my story. Curious what you think makes yours average.

My recommenders sent me the docs afterwards. They spoke well of me, but not detailed. Especially not in places where I needed a boost, or just needed to sell me more. Hence average - not great but not particularly bad.

Sorry to hear that. Situations like that make me wonder how much weight the evals carry since in some ways it is more a reflection of someone else's writing ability and understanding of the process than your strength as a candidate.

I wonder about the reasoning behind a rolling decision as well. Just give me one day to freak out at least at the end of that I will know that its over. It has been eating at me all day while working at home with nothing else to distract me. On the plus side my apartment is really clean. On the down side I think the cleaning product fumes have reduced my rational thought process to zero.
