Same here. Got the waiver in mid-Feb, after exactly 8 weeks of submitting part 1.
FT applicant here.

Latest count, 22 admits, 30 dings, and 77TBDs =129 total applicants.
so far, 17% admit rate

Firstly - Thanks a ton for compling the stats. Its a thankless job, but kudos to you.

Now I strongly believe that none of this matters as everything think is truly "random". However, this is great to keep us busy and intrigued as we wait for the decision..So in the same spirit let me add my questions to the stats :-D

1. We should keep in mind that in comparing past round or past year stats with this year we are inherently assuming that GC has a similar quantity and quality of applicant representation. No reason for me to not believe it, but no reason to believe it either. But lets go with it being true for now. Then why is the acceptance ratio at 20%-30% versus ~10% per the Kellogg stats?

2. I think for R2, it is important to know what percentage of applicant on GC have been rendered a decision? I say this coz it seems we are assuming that majority of invites have gone out based on R1. But if i see R1, very few decisions (admits, dings or WL) were released after a week and half. I dont think we are at the same level of decision rendered percentage in round 2 yet?

Just some food for thought..the result will come before 29th and it will be wat it has to be!

I think the reason for 20-30% at gmatclub vs kellogg's 10-15% is partly because the applicants in gmatclub(or similar forums) are more informed about B-schools (fit, essay strategies, interviews, and what sells) than many applicants who do not use such forums are. That knowledge greatly improves the chances of admission. My argument may not apply to applicants from consulting or finance backgrounds who are anyway well informed. On the other hand, many people who are from industries where B-schools are less known and who do not use such forums apply to schools where they mis-fit and write essays not-so relevant. Applicants in gmatclub wont fall into that trap and hence their % will be a bit better than the usual 10-15%.

the academic calendar is different from the administration. while students, professors, and those closely tied to servicing them may be off for the week, admissions, presidents, research, and all other types of staff are still working.

Simple: the students go on spring break next week, the admissions office staff, faculty and other school administration do not. There's no reason to think that decisions will stop next week just because the students aren't around.

A few other odds and ends:

@janedoeill: the PT MBA (which includes the Sat. program) is a completely separate application process. I think there may be a different thread for PT programs, everyone here I believe is applying for one of the FT programs. Send me a PM if you have questions about Kellogg in general I can help with.

@gmatbschool: As you'd expect with Kellogg's student-oriented culture, students are involved in admissions. There are students on the adcom who read applications and students who conduct on-campus admissions interviews.

I think it's primarily because lurkers more often post good news than bad news.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from posting, it's just something many around here have observed.

Everyone should chill a bit with the methodology specualtion. I was out Saturday night with a friend who was a Kellogg student reader last year. The way this works is that everyone has a cubby with your app in it. When the student readers feel like it over this three week window they will randomly select apps and start to go through them. They then pass them on to the official adcom and decisions are made. GMAT, WE, interview timing, etc. have nothing to do with it. It is random.

Did you friend say how many calls they make for acceptances and dings per day?

Sounds bogus to me?
Kellogg uses student readers? I thought all apps were handled only by Adcom at Kellogg.
Yes Kellogg uses student readers. 2 of my friends have served as Adcom. Also, remember essay 3 asks us to review our application from the perspective of a student reader.

Kellogg's is the most ridiculous process ....ever! Why cant they release dings at once..I am surprised that they make decisions on a piecemeal basis. Certainly weird and way too slow for a B school

I think we should formally define a "lurker". How about anyone with less than 25 posts or a join date within 3 weeks or their decision-related post (admit/ding/waitlist)? Said lurkers should be designated by an asterisk (*) on the roll-call page, and stats should be broken-down with and without lurkers.

Being Kellogg and everyone is interviewed. I have defined it differently.

People who announce they applied:
BEFORE admit/WL/ding = Normal
AFTER = Lurker

(general exceptions are people who have been posting on the thread but never announced, or people who put it in their profiles on the left)
