I agree with most of Riverripper's comments on page 6 of this thread (I think he/she was being facetious with the cross-dressing comment), but it's also important to keep in mind that there are multiple ways to convey the same message. A resume consists of more than just bullet-points of professional accomplishments, the material I'm taking mostly focuses on the extra-curriculars and interesting (I hope) characteristics that distinguish my background (I hope).

I can totally understand how different people would interpret this essay in different ways. I don't think there's any right or wrong answer as long as the material, differentiating information is conveyed...

Pranav,
Let me throw out a caveat first - I'm no expert. That said...

Yes something that has so far only featured as a line in your resume can be used. But here is what is important - you need to believe that highlighting it will make you look more favorable. If you are writing the 'People would be surprised' essay then it might be prudent to minimize overlap between essays. If it is something that will help you fit in better at Kellogg then you can always explain it in Essay 4. I think it may be better to minimize the overlap because it wouldn't be as surprising anymore if you had already elaborated on it elsewhere.

I absolutely agree. Once again, sorry for the delayed acknowledgment.

Quick question folks. How late in the year do R1 interviews typically get done? I am trying to book a ticket overseas and just want to make sure it doesn't conflict with interview plans. Furthermore, do a lot of schools do interviews right before (i.e. a week before) Christmas?

I'm not sure exactly how late Kellogg's interviews go, but since you can schedule your interview you should be able to work around your trip pretty easily. One thing to keep in mind though is that your application won't be evaluated until after you interview, so if you interview later in the round, you're more likely to get a decision later than people who interviewed earlier.

Do you think that overall this is true? I know some schools have rolling admissions, but the apps are not necessarily reviewed in a particular order. Should I schedule it as early as possible? Or is this just to say don't schedule it in December or something like that?

Any confirmed source that says so?
I thought that they would start reviewing your app once you submit part II.

While Kellogg is not rolling, they do release decisions starting about a month before the decision date for the round. Applications are reviewed randomly, but your application is not added to the pile until your interview is completed. So while it's certainly possible to interview early and still get your decision late in the round, you also have a better chance of hearing sooner if you interview earlier.

That said, you should schedule your interview when you feel you are best prepared for it. I'd rather get my decision later and know I presented my self as best I could, than rush my application/interview just to hear my decision sooner.

Thanks for the info.
I personally know a few friends who applied last year, and the order they received their decisions didn't seem to correlate with the order they interviewed. It was even more a reverse order. But my sample size is small so...

Either way, agree 100% that it's better late than unprepared.

Just doing the research at the moment and preparing some basic outline of the first essay.

This may have been covered elsewhere, but for Part I - Employment History, should the responsibilities box be a direct copy and paste from your resume? This seems a bit repetitive, but at the same time, I would think your resume would be the best depiction of this information, so no need to reword it. What's the consensus on this?

Well one thing to note is the word limit. You may not be able to fit what you wrong on your resume into the box.

For my application, I had a more HR-ish description. My resume was more centered around specific projects. Hope that helps.

Much like Highhopes said, I took the mindset of a more generalized description of my position and what I do. No specifics at all, word limit was too short basically something along the lines of:

"Analyst at this and this company with focus involving the implemenation of SAP at clients in a variety of industries including &&&& and ####. Primary responsibilities include yada yada yada."
