Today was first day of visits and I must say it was the single most applicants I have ever seen during a normal day. The only days that were larger last year were the potential MMM day and the minority day. Had to be 100 people there today. Heck people sat in on some of my less than interesting classes today...note an accounting elective is not exactly a stimulating class to attend, go to a strategy, marketing, management & organization, international, something like that.

Anyone plan on coming to visit classes? I just volunteered to be a class liaision, so if you pick the right class you may have me as your buddy.

If you do plan on coming to visit, I would highly recommend speaking with the current students to see which lectures are recommended (though some people prefer not to go to the best, to get a feel of the "ordinary" lectures).

I'll be there next Monday morning. They said show up at 8:00 AM and that I'd have a class visit and tour. My interview is at 1:00 pm.

Anyone remember where we were supposed to go when we show up? I'm guessing the Admissions Office, correct?

Yup, Admission Office.

Just go into the building and take the elevators immediately on the left to second floor. The elevator opens in front of admissions.

I am going to be on campus if any of you want to get together for lunch feel free to mail me at geyal2011 (at) kellogg.northwestern.edu

Hey, I'll be there on Monday and like I said have my morning pretty well booked up I believe and an interview at 1. I'm not sure if a lunch with students is already in my "itinerary" that was set up for me, but if not I'd definitely be interested in meeting up and chatting before my interview! At these "all day tours/interviews" do they generally have a lunch with a student factored in?

Kellogg's visits are not formally structured. They have different activities on different days (they have lunch with students available on Mondays, but there is no formal visit schedule).

Kudos to you Highhopes. I could have sword the person I talked with mentioned to be there at 8:00 am for a class visit. Maybe its more informal and he'll give me a schedule I can sit in on? Any info on this would be appreciated. Obviously I'd prefer to be able to sit in on something...or at least get a tour of the school...

I'm not sure why he said that - classes are at 8:30 & 10:30. When I was there, I had a 10:30 class, followed by lunch, followed by an info session. That was a Monday. You just signed up for the class when you got there in the morning, it was basically first come first serve.

They have the information about the visits on their website, under the Visit Kellogg section.

Did you have a campus tour? If so, what time. I might be blind, but what time were the tours at? I am going tomorrow but don't see the time.

I'm not a big fan of these Alum interviews....they're very biased and non-uniform. I wish every school followed MIT's way of doing interviews.

Avoid operations too if at all possible.

Just submitted Part 1. How long before I can expect them to send me a pwd and connect me with an alumni for the interview? Need to start prepping for the Int alongside finalising essays!

If it's off campus and you're in the US, it can be anywhere from 10-30 days from what I've seen. Since you're later I would guess closer to 10.

I finished my tour/class visit today. They had a campus tour at around 10:15 and around 2 or so. I picked the 10:15 tour as all the classes for 10:30am were full by 9:30 itself. I did get a Business Strategy class at 1:30 with Mazzeo which was nice. We did do a lunch with student from 12 to 1. It's better to go early to sign up for a class you are interested in. Hope this helps.

Heh! Did the exact same thing a year ago! Did prof.Mazzeo discuss the competitive advantage of Enterprise Rent-a-car? :)

Oh, really good point, I guess that's why they suggest 8am. I was there in the Spring so getting into class was not really an issue.

For those of you that have received your off campus interview assignments, has anyone had any difficulty getting in touch with your alum? I contacted him about 2 days ago and have yet to hear anything

I wonder if any internationals have received their off campus interview assignments? My Part -1 went in on 18th and I haven't heard anything yet. Plus I would like to get the experience of an international alumni interview if anyone around here did that.
